Excited about PrusaSlicer-2.9.0-beta1
Lots of goodies for multi-tool XL owners in the latest beta of Prusa Slicer: printing with multiple nozzle sizes, not wasting time or filament adding layers to the wipe tower when layers are of only one material, multi-build-plate support, automatic variable layer height -- I've been using all these features and it really makes the 5T XL shine.
Hats off to the community members who spearheaded some of these features. You are appreciated!
RE:
Prsuaslicer crashes whenever i send a file via the slicer "send to connect".
Just came across this:

Hopefully its the fix but won't be able to test till i get home.
RE:
I was doing a multi-material short-wipe-tower two-nozzle-size print and I had a collision while away from the printer. Possibly I left the wipe tower to close, but the learning here is:
The XL did not recover properly from the collision.
Instead, on resuming, it ran into the print when trying to calibrate the X and Y axis.
This lead it to have a mistaken belief about where zero was on the axis, leading to another collision.
No harm done to the machine.
I re-positioned the print at the far end of the build plate from the wipe tower and am trying again.
RE: Excited about PrusaSlicer-2.9.0-beta1
Update regarding the collision I had: after positioning the print objects far enough away from the reduced height wipe tower, the print completed flawlessly. I'll be making more use of multi-material prints now that I have this feature.
Next I'm going to install two of the 0.25 nozzles I just got, in tools 1 and 2, for a 0.25-0.25-0.4HF-0.4HF-0.6HF configuration.
Like I said, really excited about this update to slicer. 🙂
