Ethernet slower than Wi-Fi?
I finally got around to connecting my XL to ethernet because the Wi-Fi was pretty slow. I didn't actually measure the throughput, but the link speed was around 70 mbps. I connected ethernet to find it's only 100 mbps. Fine, whatever. At least it'll be more stable. Well, I went to upload my first gcode file that's around 10MB to find that the transfer speed is in the neighborhood of 700 kbps. Every transfer attempt failed due to timeouts. Has anyone else experienced this?
RE: Ethernet slower than Wi-Fi?
I don't use WiFi, just Ethernet, and it's consistently fast to both our 5T XL and our MK4S.
Is the bottleneck perhaps the USB stick in the printer?
I replaced the one Prusa included with a 32GB USB2.0 stick and it seems to have made a big difference.
Even large files finish transferring before I can finish getting up and walking the 30 feet from my home office to the living room we've converted to 3D printing and related crafts.
RE: Ethernet slower than Wi-Fi?
I might consider the USB stick if the performance was equal, but it is definitely MUCH slower via Ethernet. I'll see if removing the Wi-Fi config entirely helps. I'm wondering if the SoC can't handle Wi-Fi being active while also using Ethernet.
RE: Ethernet slower than Wi-Fi?
I suspect it was an issue in the firmware. I'm running 6.2.0-alpha2 and the Ethernet seems to be fine. As a side note, there's no way to remove the Wi-Fi config that I can find without doing a factory reset on the printer... and I'm not doing the tool head calibration again!
