Change to 5-tool, alters shipping date…

Ok, so I pre-ordered a 2-tool semi on the 19th, but now was hoping tho change to a 5, which seems to already be shipping, but it seems you can’t alter until you get the magic email…. But you can’t get the email until your order comes around, but seems the 5-tool assembled is actually shipping… ideas?

They are shipping five head semi’s, but they’re not even up to the time when they sent out email notifications on the 18th about the XL. So for you a day later, to all of a sudden jump, the line ahead of everyone else is in my view a war crime.

Frankly, if all of you people wanted five, had units, you should’ve ordered five head units. At the very least, you should be moved to the back of the line for the five head units so you weren’t screwing us who actually thought ahead for what we actually wanted.

all of these people who ordered single or dual head units, and then are switching to five head units are major part of the problem of the supply of these printers. Heads are the limiting factor it appears to be now. They are the scarce resource.

RE:

i got my "your printer is ready mail" in june (1 head semi)

i was able to change it to 5 head semi 2 week ago.

i did ask chat (today) - they said: we are now shipping 5 head semi to people that paid 2-3 month ago. (funny i would have loved to pay but could not because i could not change the order)

they said it would take at least 4 week until they ship orders paid 4 Weeks ago.

Sorry but dont blame the people that changed their minds. I ordered a 2h semi on the first day and got my email on Aug 31st , been able to change to a 5h semi on the 18th and today they told me that i should wait for another two weeks to get "information" about the progress of my order. Prusa clearly stated that anyone could change their order later with no consequence on their place in queue. But now their policy is such a screw up that people that ordered A YEAR LATER get their one head printer and people with ordered in April 22 get their 2h assembled but first day orders are still waiting. Its Prusas fault. Their excuse today was actually more ridiculous. When i responded with the above when they claimed once again that my place in queue hasnt change (even if people that order a year after get their printers) they said and i quote  " The development, testing process and periods are very different for each configuration, more so for the assembled/semi assebled versions, where various things and assembly issues need to be tested thoroughly. ". Well i didnt know that there still in the development and testing phase, or that it was so difficult to "test" 5h semi assembled in comparison to 5h assembled.

All the printers have similar components. The XL and varying number of extruders. The only thing extra is the daughterboard for more thatn 2 heads. The person in the chat told me that my XL and nextruders are still not ready. But an XL for an order place on Nov 22 is. So thats why i'm saying is not the fault of someone that decided to change his/hers configuration when two years ago they were told that there would be no consequences for this.

that... i ordered 1 head beacause i wanted to be fast with my order - and because it clearly said - no matter what you order only time of order is important.

well BS...

i know someone who ordered 4 hours later and has the model i want. but i have to wait maybe 2 more month.

if they had not said "no matter what you order"... ok. (i would cleary have ordered 5 head semi then...)

but now it is chaos and not what was stated. like allways. ( i remember the story with the sheets of MK3... if you ordered on day one you did not get the textured sheet. and had to wait 4 month longer than people that ordered half a year later.

RE:

I know what Prusa just said, Prusa said a lot of stuff that hasn’t come in to be true. Heck the design of the nextrude down to the basics has changed.
it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to understand the limited supply of the heads was going to be an issue even two years ago. That’s why I got in line for the five head unit. Have you heard anything about being able to add heads.?

so there is something inherently wrong with being able to up your order of heads now, but if you wanna add them tomorrow, after receiving your printer, my guess is you won’t see them for another almost year.

The biggest problem is that they still can’t give you any kind of indication based on your order number when you were going to get to “switch“ your order, and then when it will ship. I’m still a day one order and they can’t give me any clue at all when I will get this. the more I read these threads the more I think this is going to be a Christmas purchase. I seriously needed this printer for some projects this fall. I had some trade shows there. I was expecting to be able to use it and that totally screwed me.

we need to demand that on the next video blog that they lay out how many five head semis they are producing a day and then how many orders there are, and how they are arrayed in time.  None of the ways that they talk about orders makes any sense to any of us.

In my case I was able to do so last night via the chat in your order. I don't think it matters about supply as otherwise it should be purely linear for 1-5 but clearly they view the 5 head version as a specific thing and the 2 as another (not sure if I had upgraded to a 4 if one even could).

The biggest barrier to upgrading heads, was despite the Czech Republic having a long history of manufacturing high precision machines like industrial machine tools and clocks, this is the most wildly inaccurate time ever, and every time it hit zero seconds the connection dropped. Finally I managed to reach them on an overnight here in the US at around 2:30 my time as I was overnight call at the hospital. So now the order is for 5 heads and he couldn't me an exact date of shipping of course.
