Anybody here get Prusalink to work?

I tried posting elsewhere but most don’t read the entire forum…

I get to the login screen but it does not seem to take the name and password.

It looks totally broken.

PrusaConnect works ok, but upload speed is unacceptable.

On my MK4 it always refused to let me login till I went into the LCD display and told it to generate a new password. Using the new password worked perfectly. (But I've read there is also some problem with Safari, so if you are using that, try a different browser).

RE: Anybody here get Prusalink to work?

I have PrusaLink and Prusa Connect running fine on my Mk4. I send most print jobs from my Mac Mini M1 directly from PrusaSlicer or Orca Slicer.  Both work fine with PrusaLink.  File transfer speeds are not fast, but I mostly print small custom designed household repair items and fairly small prints that my son designed, so my files are small and transfer time is very reasonable.  I followed the PrusaLink  documentation to the letter and it linked right up.  The only challenge I had was on my Apple IOS devices, which is a known problem having to do with Safari, and as such Prusa has created a PrusaLink app that is on the App Store that solves that.  Since Prusa Connect is web based, I can access it without trouble in Safari from those same IOS devices.

RE: Anybody here get Prusalink to work?

I should clarify...The Safari issue might also apply to MAC OS, but I don't use desktop Safari.

Last week I installed Orca Slicer, which is a fork of BambuSlicer, which is a fork of PrusaSlicer.  Reportedly it keeps the slick additions that Bambu added, some of which you might enjoy (Project management and multiple plates etc), and returns the advance features that had been cut by Bambu.   In it there is a Device tab that runs the PrusaLink page directly in the slicer, which I thought was a nice touch. I haven't used it's much mostly because my experience with PrusaSlicer has been problem free, but it might be worth a look if you haven't already.  Settings are definitely organized differently, but seem fairly intuitive, so with a bit more time might be more efficient than what we get with PrusaSlicer.  We'll see.

OK...

Thanks, but... have you gotten it to work with your multi extruder Prusa XL?

I apologize. I mistook your question as a general one.

Ok… I got it to work with Chrome on my Mac, but it still won’t work with Chrome on an iPad, so it’s probably a safe assumption that it won’t work with Chrome on an iPhone.

Safari and Firefox under macOS run the open-source WebKit.. Chrome runs its own extensions on macOS and is much more resource intensive under macOS.. as Apple has tuned WebKit for their safari browser. Under iOS, Chrome is forced to use WebKit. There is no reason PrusaLink can't support Safari; likely the devs were much more familiar with the Chrome engine.

Correction: Safari runs under WebKit.. Firefox under Gecko.. when using macOS.. under iOS they use WebKit, I believe..

Here's how it works for me - using an XL 5TH

1) Go to your prusa connect page, and copy the prusa link key as shown below

In Prusaslicer (2.7 here), add/edit your physical printer as below

It should work then as expected 🙂

HTH!

RE: Anybody here get Prusalink to work?

I use Prusa Link for almost all of my XL 5TH prints... both directly from Prusa Slicer and via web upload.

The only problem I encountered was the XL ip address changing when going between wifi and ethernet.  (Check your IP if you switch)

Did you get it going?

Prusa Link with Safari works on macOS (I use it all of the time for my XL).  You only have about a 5 second window to type in the username and password and login.  I have my password saved in a notes file so I end up copying and pasting that on the login screen.  Can't get Safari to save it.  I believe I read someplace where the issue lies within Safari.
