Pulling my hair out over here lol i keep getting a stuck filiment prompt and a stagered flow. It keeps making this clicking noise and visualy you can see the filiment in the tube jerking with each click so no steady flow...Im in the middle of a contract and dont have time to waste so i bought a whole new extruder assembly, i was assuming that maybe the gears after almost two years had just ran its course, and even after switching out the whole piece with a brand new one, the same stagered clicking noise with jerking filiment is happening, new cord, new tubing, everything. I even ran a seperate tube just to make sure it was free flowing and it still happened on the tube with no constraints. I've heated the head up to 290 and purged just to see what would happen and the same thing...a stagered clicking like the gears are skipping but that can't be because its a brand new extruding unit...So its not mechanical and its not a kink in the tubing, what else could it be? It's specifically happening on the 3rd head unit? Inconvienently just started happening within the last 4 weeks. Any help is appreciated!

Has anyone tried printing this filament on a Prusa XL without an enclosure?

I have not had any success printing medium to large objects with Sunlu Easy-PA Nylon, even though it is advertised as a low-warping filament. Every time the print reaches a certain height, I suspect it starts to warp, which causes an ‘Extruder Motor Not Spinning’ error to appear. I believe this happens because the warped print interferes with the nozzle, preventing proper extrusion.

I had the 5-tool XL for two years now and my feelings are mixed.

It was my biggest invest in a hobby, ever. It is big, it is reliable, it prints pretty well. But honestly... all in all, I spent more than $5000 on that thing (including enclosure, bed sheets, nozzles and so on), and for that HUGE pile of money I did not expect anything less.

Then, there is the enclosure. Costing more than an entire multi-color printer elsewhere, it still looks and feels more like patchwork than a refined solution. Honestly, some 3rd party enclosures on Printables have evolved better.

I really expected more improvement and development by Prusa on their flagship, but got pretty disappointed in that regard. There seems to be a hard focus on the Core1 series now, which - understandably - is a lot more commercially successful. But I am afraid that with the arrival of INDX, the XL will get to become Prusas neglected ugly child even more. The fact that the XL was the last one of all Prusa models to get the 6.4 firmware finalized speaks louder than any official commitment can. As of now (2026/05), all other models have 6.5.3 already, XL is on 6.4.1. Go figure.

The fact that the Nextruder in the Core1 had 360° nozzle cooling from day one but the XL still has not, after years... well, you get where this is going. In the past, all Prusa Printers got a proper upgrade path instead of a succession of totally new and incompatible models. Seeing that the Core1+ along with INDX is probably better at almost everything except print volume, at a significantly lower price point, while I keep waiting in vain for even basic optimizations of well-known flaws just got me by surprise (unpleasantly so).

Some feature examples I would have expected in the last years are:

a multi-filament storage solution below the printer with included drying and auto-winding

improved (auto-winding) loading/unloading solution

improved nozzle cooling (360°)

improved enclosure with cheap upgrade path for existing customers

a seamlessly integrated camera solution (the Core One came later and it already got one, for f*cks sake!)

The XL still is a really good printer, don't get me wrong. But all the above is also why I have problems shaking the bad feeling that I paid more than almost anyone else, and they took my money and used it to create the Core1, instead of improving the XL.

I ran into an issue this weekend and just wondering if anybody else has seen it or how to correct.

I installed the new 6.4.1 firmware in my XL5 and one of the features included is the ability to change a filament on an extruder that is not currently printing. I have a print I am trying to do that has 6 colors so this seemed helpful. Started the print. The filament in question that would need to be changed was in EX3. The color finished and while the printer using EX2 I decided to change the color on EX3. This process all worked very well except moving back to EX2 after the change and resume printing. When the print resumed on EX2, the bed was too high by about 1mm and the extruder started colliding with the print and the it knocked off my supports causing me to abort the print.

I am guessing my alternative is to add a M600 command and do the change manually, but has anybody else experienced this? Any known fix yet?

I recommend NOT buying the XL or Prusament PCCF in 2026. I am an experienced 3D printer, having started in 2016 with an Original Prusa i3 MK1. I bought two rolls of PCCF for my XL and have gotten ZERO successful prints out of that 220 dollar investment.

Updated firmware. Downgraded firmware. Upgraded firmware. Printed mods. Removed mods. Enclosure. No enclosure. Glue, no glue, stock settings, tweaked settings, firmware errors, parking issues, dropped support for my 5000 dollar printer. Clog after clog, multiple nozzles, large, small, stock. HF, not HF, hardened and not hardened.

Support for the XL: Zero

"Flagship status" claim: Completely superseded.

Today, it clogged while I was at work on an 8 hour print. I came home, fixed it. Thirty minutes later, I had a giant PC blob of death, ruining the hotend, the print, and finally, my relationship with Prusa. 2016-2026. I'm done. This printer sucks. Mine hasn't worked reliably since 2023, and in 2026 (eons of time, per many people on this forum), it still doesn't work.

I owned ten MK3S/+. I brought one to Antarctica. They were great. I strongly support Prusa's open source ethos. I cannot condone the lack of support for this printer.

The abandonment of the platform was the first straw. The realization that, yet again, I cannot get my 5k printer to work after following all troubleshooting, after a decade of successful printing on Prusa's platforms, was in fact the final straw. If yours works, good - I am very glad for you and hope you get many more great prints out of it. Mine doesn't.

Hello!

I've run into a problem where the filament gets stuck for some reason, but the printing doesn't stop and the extruder starts grinding the filament.
I've already done this with two heads.
I'm definitely going to take one of them apart because it was so full of junk. I noticed it too late.I managed to stop the printing with the other one after a few empty layers.
It went further the second time than the first.
I print from a Sunlu S4 dryer. At first I thought that maybe the piping was too steep. But the second time it wasn't a problem. In principle.

The material is BambuLab PLA Silk. The last time I printed well with the BambuLab X1C. That was more than a year ago. I dried the material continuously in the S4 for 6 hours at night. The drying didn't stop even after the continuous cycle, until the desired humidity was reached inside the device.
I already turned off the drying when printing. Also, I didn't dry it before the second attempt and it printed further than the first. So I would rule out filament that is too wet.
For the filament, I used values from the default settings of BambuStudio, such as the extruder multiplier 0.98, print temperature 220 °C.The bed temperature remained 60 °C, the max volumetric speed 15 instead of 21.I also printed in 0.20mm Structural mode. It's the same model.

The filament could be pulled out with a filament unloader.
The picture of the filament is a piece taken out of the first extruder.
It's still in the second one, I took a picture of it at the extruder wheel, as it looks right now.

What could be the problem? Is XL allergic to BambuLab materials? I don't think I've printed BambuLab materials with it yet. I've printed a lot of Sunlu and Prusament. And a couple of other brands too. I have several rolls of BambuLab material because of the X1C, although I already loved Prusament, so I have more of it.
But for two or more colors like this, I can only reach for the brand that makes it.
What else I can do is try to print the model with another material. I have one loaded, and I printed successfully with it yesterday. If that also gets stuck, then the problem is probably with the model.

Although I recently had a model that I printed 4 copies of one by one and the printing stopped at the same point in all 4 due to a filament jam. There really wasn't a problem. The filament came out smoothly and went back without cutting and the printing continued without any problems. It was Prusament material.

Now I don't even understand why it didn't stop. In the first case, I clearly heard the extruder clicking. I looked, but unfortunately I didn't notice that the material wasn't coming. I was clearly blind, I wasn't looking at it from the right angle.

It would be nice if someone could give me some tips and advice on how to print with Bambu materials. I don't want to throw them away, and I don't have anyone I can give them to. It would also be nice to print with this color combination, but that's not why I'm buying a Bambu printer.

First long build up and then calibration steps which I dont understand.

My problem is that the tool changer can't pick the first hotend it keeps hanging and the arm comes empty forward.

I loosen the dock pins and both screws and attached it manually and screwed in the upper screw.

After that it happens everytime. I'm tired it now to repeat all this steps everytime and I have to do it 5x.

I'm really disapointed at the moment and can't continue. I expected much more for this money!!!!
