Summary

  • New features
    • “Set Ready” button
    • Connect header status icon
  • Bugfixes
    • Fixed Wi-Fi regression
    • Fixed “/api/v1/job GET response contains invalid JSON” (public PR)

This is a public release of the 6.2.0-alpha2 firmware for the Original Prusa MK4/S, MK3.9/S, MK3.5/S, XL, and MINI+.

This is an alpha release intended for experienced users. We’ve not been doing translations for changed/newly added texts yet. The features in this firmware are still under development and may not perform as expected. Should you encounter any bugs or issues with the printer’s performance, please report them via GitHub or in our forums.

Please note that this is a testing firmware developed primarily on stock unmodified printers. In case you are running any 3rd party upgrade, exercise caution and let us know in case of any issues.

New Features

“Set Ready” button

If your printer is set up in the Prusa Connect, you can now mark the printer as “Ready” directly from the print finish screen.

Connect header status icon

We added a new header icon, indicating Connect status:

  • “C” when the printer is registered to the Connect (and grayed out when there is no network connection)
  • “☑” when the printer is registered to the Connect and the printer is “Ready”.

Bugfixes

Fixed Wi-Fi regression

We have reverted the changes made to the Wi-Fi system in version 6.2.0-alpha1 and are currently investigating which specific change caused the issue with the printers not being able to connect to Wi-Fi

Fixed “/api/v1/job GET response contains invalid JSON” (public PR)

We have merged a public PR #4196 that fixes issue #4193 that was causing an invalid JSON response in the Prusa Link API endpoint “/api/v1/job”. Kudos to @ysmilda.

Fixed Accelerometer sometimes not being detected (MK4S)

We’ve fixed a bug where the Prusa Accelerometer was sometimes not detected during the first IS calibration after the printer started

Nice!  Quick question: do the new filament code changes fix the issue of Tool #1 always incorrectly preheating in addition to the selected tool when loading filament into other tools?  This has been a known/tracked bug for many months now, and hoping this is addressed as part of this.

I'm having an issue where the tool heads crashing to the right but only in firmware version 6.2.0 both alphas. I revert back to  version 6.1.3 and the issue doesn't happen at all and works perfectly.

RE:

Same here..
When I start a multi-material print, the used extruders is test-grabbed perfectly, but when the print is supposed to start the toolhead just goes to the right and crashes.!
It seems like it is moving in the wrong direction, is is supposed to go to front left, but goes back right.
After downgrading back to 6.1.3 everything works flawless.

RE: 6.2.0-alpha2 Firmware for Original Prusa XL

i started having layer shifts for no reason after having to change settings in the slicer settings for layers and perimeters, Quality and Advanced.

when i changed External perimeters first, and changing avoid crossing perimeters, suddenly it just started failing prints with layershifts.

i managed to catch it when it happened, it was 5 hours into a print working fine then it just randomly shot the head to the right crashed it and went back to printing the next layer which was about 5mm offset from the last layer, i stopped the print since i heard the bang and the aftermath i also managed to dislodge the locking sliders and the tool head fell off when i went to go park it to clean up the mess it made.

this was under slicer 2.9 but i know it was doing it in earlier slicers as well when i used the same settings.

the firmware regardless of version is a buggy nightmare and the slicer software as also been a buggy nightmare.

what the hell happened to prusa? the XL has been a brick since October 2023.
