RE: 5 head semi/assembled shipping window?

I got the email that my 5 head semi-assembled XL was ready on Oct 17, 2023, 9:11 AM (EST).

I just completed the order a few minutes ago. Order number 16372623xx from Nov 18, 2021, 8:05:40 PM

I'm so Happy! Finally..

RE: 5 head semi/assembled shipping window?

I got my, day one ordered, semi-assembled 5-tool head XL delivered this week. I already had a week off from work, so I could build it straight away. I had a lot of fun doing it and certainly not difficult. Especially if you read the construction instructions carefully and follow them closely. Some of the comments are certainly helpful, so read those too and ignore the not so helpful ones.

I have now printed a number of models, all with 2 or more tools (0.6 mm) with PLA and PETG. I haven't tried TPU yet and neither have I tried 0.4mm nozzles yet. I will try both soon.

In my case, the temperature of the standard profiles could certainly be 10-15 degrees colder, warmer gives some stringing. I also added a custom G-code to move the nozzle off the model just before the tool change, like explained in this video by 3D Print Dogs. For now those are the only adjustments I did.

Overall I am very satisfied, I have not experienced any problems so far. I think the print quality is really good.

The wait was long and it was not always fun to get the impression that people who initially ordered 1 or 2 tool heads and then converted to 5,  seemed to take precedence, but in the end it was worth the wait for me.

I hope your experiences will be like mine.

it would be interesting to see what the distribution of problems being reported is for kit, semi-assembled and fully(well, ... we know it's not) assembled.  I am also in the group of 11/18/2021 5 head Fully assembled, so I'm very keen to know lol.  I've yet to get the email to say I need to pay so I'm relying on those that have already gotten them to tell me lol   Maybe a few hail mary's and I'll get lucky lol

I eventually got an email from DHL that I owed like $150 for customs.  Paid it, they said that things are now moving again, still supposed t get here by teh end of Monday.

What does this mean from DHLs site:

Further DetailFormal clearance processing is required and DHL will proceed to file a formal entryNext StepA DHL representative will attempt to contact consignee/importer or shipper if any further information is required to complete the entry.

my understanding is it means customs is reviewing the shipping documentation.    I received same notice.    Didn't seem to hold things up for my delivery in the US.  I did get a lot of dhl updates that had slightly helpful info like this.   23 in total over 5 days.

Watch for the one where they ask you to pay the customs fee.    I got that request  a day before delivery, paid it online a couple hours after the request was sent.

It took mine about a week to ship after I paid.  Then another week to receive it.

Ok my 5h fully-assembled shipped today.   Roughly a week after I got the email saying it was ready and to pay.   DHL says Nov 6.

I hope I'm lucky and don't have the issues others are having.

I know people of having issues with the XL and I don't know if I just got lucky, but my experience so far has been nothing but positive.  I don't even have stringing issues.  I run driers, but I have not had to adjust temps down as others have reported.  All standard profiles.

well this isn't a good start,  the frame was scuffed in shipping.  something poked through the corner of the box during shipping apparently.

The frame doesn't appear to be bent.

That's rough.  I have been wondering if some of the issues people have been experiencing on fully assembled units could be shipping related.

well I took pictures and sent an email to prusa asking them if I should go ahead and try to set this up or what.   I wanted documentation that I found it immediately on opening just in case.  as far as I can tell the frame doesn't look bent.   I have some chores to do this evening after work but I'll probably try to set this thing up.  crossing my fingers.

Oh, yeah.  There are issues revolving around damage in shipment.  From external like the recent photo, and also internal damage from rough handling.

Alright, after hours of calibration etc, I'm printing my first benchy.   Prusament PLA,  so we'll see what happens.

lol, ok, first multicolor print.  not bad, I think the white pla needs lower temp and maybe some drying.   But worked great otherwise.  I can tell I'm going to have to loosen things up a bit when I try flex.
