RE: 5 head semi/assembled shipping window?

I want to do some things like TPU plus soluble supports.   That's never gonna happen with the mmu lol   I just upgrade the one MK3S I have that has an MMU attached to the 3.13.0 + 3.0.0 firmware, it behaves like a brand new printer.... I'm serious, I've spent easily hundreds of hours dorking around with the mmu in order to get it to a somewhat ok level of performance.   With the firmware all the sounds are different lol   very wierd lol  I'm doing a 4h test print and so far it's looking good.

With the additional delay to my XL I’ll re-integrate my MMU2S and try the new firmware over the weekend.

I almost thought it was broken after I firmware updated because it behaved so differently haha.   it FEELS more robust when it does things which is really amazing.  I printed for about 2h of the 4h and then stopped it to see if it gracefully handled that.  it did.  I still don't expect things like BVOH + PETG to work well together nor do I expect it to be able to easily load tpu now, but the firmware update on the printer and the MMU are definitely an improvement.

Make sure you read the release notes
https://github.com/prusa3d/Prusa-Firmware/releases/tag/v3.13.0

You now have to turn on the MMU in Settings

RE: 5 head semi/assembled shipping window?

Prusa shipping Table: "The five-tool semi-assembled printers are shipping already (shipping started in the week of August 7th). We are switching pre-orders placed on November 18th, 2021."

well - I tried many times to change my order from single semi to 5 head semi....

everytime support tells me an other story why they can't do it (yet).

last week it was not yet possible in the system (other had success). I should try again this week.

so i had a chat today. Answer: i should not try every day - i should wait until Thursday.

The ordering system and promissed time windows are a joke.

I ordered in the first minutes an have my "your order is ready" mail for weeks. And they write on their shipping table that they are converting it now.

but they are not.

as much as i love prusa printer for many years - the shipping promisses and ordering system suck so much.

I contacted Prusa and they pretty much know nothing.  They are shipping orders. They have no idea of when first day orders will actually ship.  I asked if mine would ship this week or this month and they refused to give an estimate.  Then they blame us for it because people are changing orders.  That might have been true for the first tranche of orders, but 5-head/semis are the last of the orders to fill.  They are what is left.  To not be able to give any guidance as to shipping this late in the game is business incompetence.

I've got trade shows and conferences in Sept that I was planning on using these printers to produce things.  I guess I'll just show the STLs and tell people not to count on Prusa if you actually want to make things.

lol, I've not changed anything haha, I just ordered, a LONG time ago.

Oh well, I'm sure I'll be happy once my orders finally show up.  No reason to harsh my mellow 🙂

The shipping information for new XL orders changed the last days from "end of 2023" to "first half of 2024".

I have serious doubts, that my preordered 5 head semi will arrive this year.

RE: 5 head semi/assembled shipping window?

Same boat - I placed an order on the first day it was announced (11/18/2021) for a single head - not because I wanted a single head, but because the details were very unclear back then about what would materialize in reality.  As soon as it was made clear there would be a 5 head, semi-assembled model I knew that is the model that I wanted.  At this point I am checking in with customer support once per week to see if I can convert my order, but still unable to do so.

Prusa - if you are listening, very confused as to what your strategy is here.  Why would you not allow me to change & complete my order? I would assume the knowledge as to the exact model I desire, and receipt of my money, would be good things.  Your customer service representatives seem confused as to what is going on.  My fear is: failure on my part to check back all the time when the floodgates open up for order conversion will render my spot in line lost, pushing me out to next year.

Please take my order? How do I give you money..

RE: 5 head semi/assembled shipping window?

@Nick same here. i have my "your order is ready" mail for 8 Weeks now.

but prusa is not willing to change my order to 5head.

the latest statement was: we will first ship to people to originally ordered 5 head, and then we can convert yours to 5 head.

after many years of beeing a big Fan of prusa, i have douts. Also i have a lot of Problems with my MK4. The Quality is not the same it used to be.

(cables to short, filament sensor stucks all the time,...)

for me it seems like the company is over the peak of evolution. There are a lot of things i guessed would be implemented when the XL starts shipping. but they are not. (different nozzel sizes in one print, IS,....)

RE: 5 head semi/assembled shipping window?

I don't have any problems or concerns with Prusa's quality and am quite empathetic with the supply chain issues.  I will patiently wait for my shipping date whenever that may be.  I just want to convert my order to secure my spot in line, and am confused as to why they are not allowing that.  Sorting out who initially ordered a 5 head vs who converted their first day orders later sounds like information they already have, and something that can be sorted out on the back end.

RE: 5 head semi/assembled shipping window?

i had a MK3 of the first batch... and near zero problems. with the MK4 i have a lot of trouble.

QC issues like cables that were to short - fixed it myself, or a filament sensor that was not testet enough. it gets stuck all the time. A Problem you can read from many XL users, too.

It is concerning for sure, but I hope it will be a temporary issue, because the company grew so quickly. I hope they sort it out till the end of the year.

I must say my Prusa XL 2 Head is pretty much perfect - really amazing for such a complex machine. The only thing that was a little odd was that the cables for the display unit were too short to put it exactly center. Not a huge concern for me though.

That's hopeful to me.  My order number is about 100 lower than yours.  However rumors are that many more 5-head semi orders so there are likely many more in front of me in my queue.  I'll hope for an October delivery based only on a whim and a prayer.

RE: 5 head semi/assembled shipping window?

last time I talked to support they said both my mk3->mk4 upgrade kits and my fully assembled 5 head XL should be shipping "second half of september" so I'm still hopeful.

I have so many things I want to try lol.

Good luck, brother.  I cancelled my MMU3 and Mk3.9 upgrade kit, and I’d cancel my XL, but I have too much time invested  and since the MMU2 is possessed and the MMU3 is ghost-gear, I want something that I can do multimaterial with.  My wife is impressed by simple top layer color changes, color through materials will blow her mind!

RE: 5 head semi/assembled shipping window?

yeah, I get it.  My MMU2S does work and it definitely got better with the latest firmware.  After having waited nearly 2 years for my 5 extruder XL though, I'm committed.  And after having gotten the MMU to work, I know the XL really is the way that multi-material SHOULD work and not the single nozzle rube-goldberg contraption they call the MMU lol.

I'm anxious to try some stuff with it when it arrives.

I'll let you know how it goes.

RE: 5 head semi/assembled shipping window?

I ordered a semi-assembled 2 head version on Nov 18 2021 (Day 1).  I got a notice on  August 30 that my order was ready for final payment and shipping.  I want to upgrade to a 5 head version and according to the support chat today, I can upgrade immediately to a 5 head fully assembled version.  There is not currently an option for me to switch to the 5 head semi-assembled version.  Support  said to check back in 1-2 weeks to see if the option to switch to 5 head semi-assembled was available.

yeah, my order was on day one as well.  I spoke to support a few weeks ago and they said my particular order number should be around second half of sept.  I hope to be getting my notice soon!

Just got the email that my two upgrade kits were packed and shipped!   I ordered on 04/01.   Hopefully my 5 extruder fully assembled XL should be next!
