Support removal is very hard

Hi all,

I own a Prusa XL - 5T. This 3D printer has been promoted by a colleague of mine.

After printer a small 3D part, I find very hard (even impossible to remove support). I can't do otherwise with this model to add supports. The filament is a Prusament PLA White. I used organic style support but I have the same issue with snug  style. Preset is 0.2mm Quality with 0.4mm Nozzle

I broke a certain amount of model by just removing the support. Would you mind ti help to figure which paramters I can't play with ? to avoid this situation ?

Thanks in advance for your help

Please save your project as a .3mf file

Files > Save Project as

Zip the .3mf and post it here. It will contain both your part and your settings for us to diagnose.

Cheerio,

If we can see your settings we can advise on how to improve them.

But obviously one of the advantages of having a multi tool printer is that you can use different materials. So you could print the main model in PLA and the supports in PETG (or vice versa). Or use water soluble support material. Either of which will give you better results than using the same material for model and supports.

I've had no luck with PETG supports for PLA prints, the PETG supports fail mid-print.

BUT

What has worked well is PLA supports, PETG interface material, PLA print.
Control of the extruder used for support interface is the 5th line in "Extruders" in the "Multiple Extruders" menu section of PrusaSlicer settings.

This is the preferred method, it's way less tool changes.

Hi all,

Thanks for your valuable support ! If I sum up well you advise PLA Support / PETG interface and end up in PLA ?

What if we don't have PETG filament ? what is your advise ?

In the meantime I uploaded my 3MF File : CameraFrame v11

Regards

RE: Support removal is very hard

Not surprised.  You have your part not flat to the bed.  As such its only touching on one side, hence the brim around one edge and not the other one.  A side effect of this is that the bottom surfaces you are supporting are not on a single layer and so are not 'bridged' over from side to the other but end part way across.  This means way more sag down onto your support structure.  More contact means more sticking=more difficult to remove.

Support settings otherwise look reasonable for a PLA print.

Personally I'd also increase perimeter count to 3.

Modified project attached.
