Initial print quality not what I expected
Recently purchased a Prusa XL 5 toolhead printer.
So far I am underwhelmed with the print quality and can't figure out what (if anything) I am needing to tweak. Everything I've read it shouldn't need much fine tuning out of the box
I have a Bambu H2S AMS2 that I am comparing prints with trying to figure out what I am doing wrong.
Below pictures are same filament from same spool (Elegoo PLA), same temp (220 C), same print speed (100%). Bambu on the left, Prusa on the right.
The Benchy's are noticably better in quality. My son like spin fidgets. They always print smoothly on the Bambu and spin freely. On the Prusa they are trash and either don't spin at all (the base is fused), or the gaps aren't smooth and it won't rotate well at all.
I've tried messing with the variable layer height for the smoothed edges, bringing each layer to .7, with no noticeable difference.
Newer to Prusa. What am I missing folks?
Thanks!
RE: Initial print quality not what I expected
Firmware 6.4.0 is a disaster for the XL. If you've calibrated phase stepping/input shaping with it, you need to go back to 6.2.6 and make your calibrations there, THEN update to 6.4.0 and do not touch said calibrations.
RE: Initial print quality not what I expected
Thanks for the recommendation! I'll try that and report back.
RE:
I had lots of issues until I did the belt tensioning, and especially, the homing tower. This helped me more than anything, I wish I had done it on day one, there are a few other posts on the forum related to the XL, the homing tower, and the Hz measurements.
