Assembly Warning for “Perfect First Layer”
Many people are having a problem with bed leveling and perfect first layer (I did too)…. I traced the problen down to gaps between the vertical and horizontal aluminum extrusions. They were made with an EXTREMELY tight fit…. You need to go back and forth, and back and forth between the two bolts until the plastic ridges on the vertical extrusion ends are compressed into the horizontal extrusion slots, and there is zero space between the extrusions… it takes alot of force - but use the torque wrench so you don’t snap the bolts (and go back and forth like torquing down an engines cylinder head). If there is any space between these extrusions you will have all kinds of leveling and first layer problems. After I went back and fixed this, my first layer was PERFECT.
- Prusa should place this warning in the assembly instructions.
RE: Assembly Warning for “Perfect First Layer”
interesting info, man I will get my printer soon and have to build it, could you maybe at an image of where the exact problem is? THANKS
RE: Assembly Warning for “Perfect First Layer”
The manual is quite clear about this, even including a torque wrench. Basically, it needs to be fit into place snugly and then tightened until you're not really compressing the assembly any further. If it wobbles or has play, keep going.
