What's the status of an enclosure for the XL
I saw somewhere an enclosure someone was working on, but is Prusa working on one? What's the status on either?

I'd personally look at 3rd party enclosures. I personally like the Sumo enclosure but there are quite a few options out there.

There are also some diy options on Printables as well.
From what I've seen it looks like they are going the route of that accordion at the bottom with a metal frame up top. I don't care for what I've seen at all. The accordion will block your view of the bottom of the print and from a visual standpoint looks bad imo.

What we've seen so far from Prusa does indeed look absolutely horrible - I really hope that they will come up with something less ugly before the thing is released...
The Sumo enclosure looks rather nice, though. I could imagine myself buying one of those if there was an optional add-on to put the spools in a sealed box on top of the printer. I really don't want to let my spools out in the open.

Guess I'll wait till Prusa comes out with their finished product before I decide which way to go...

I'm happily using this:

I bought the hardware/acrylic kit from AliExpress (see link in description), which gets my thumbs-up.
I like the look of the Sumo in theory, but a) it adds quite a bit of height above what the printer needs (this was mentioned as a design choice somewhere on socials) and so would not fit in the space I have available; and b) from update posts on socials, it looks to have been developed around a 1-tool machine. There are maintenance and operating procedures that apply only to multi-tool machines, and I'm not sure of the Sumo gives good access for that (eg, reaching in and manually grabbing tools for easy nozzle change etc).
RE: What's the status of an enclosure for the XL
FYI. The top easily lifts off the sumo. Access problem solved.

If you want something cheap and easy; I am using this:

RE: What's the status of an enclosure for the XL
The 6.0 RC for the XL has code for dealing with the filter and fan along with digital communications to the upcoming XL enclosure, so whatever is happening it's probably going to be released reasonably soon as they are already shipping software for it.

RE: What's the status of an enclosure for the XL
I've tried searching online, but I can't find it directly. Does anyone know if someone has got the Sumo enclosure with a fan and temperature sensor working with the new firmware? I have a sumo enclosure with a fan currently. Any information is much appreciated.
RE: What's the status of an enclosure for the XL
I guess its called the "Smart Enclosure" and its visible in the video they put out here:
On the video Prusa3d commented: "We're finishing our last round of testing and expect to start shipping it around the end of May/begginig of June."
RE: What's the status of an enclosure for the XL
I saw that in the release video and was curious about the design:
From this angle, it doesn't look like the print head is actually in the enclosure? I'm not sure I understand what's being shown here.

From what I've seen they basically have a "Hat" on top and the accordion style cover on the bottom. The print head is definitely in the enclosure.
I'm assuming the upper section will open like a hood on a car.
I personally didn't care for it's looks, but I imagine from a functional standpoint it will be good. I really like the quality and versatility the enclosure for the MK's.
I ended up getting a Sumo enclosure for mine which has worked great. It was just a struggle to print because I chose to make it from PETG and I'm a perfectionist. In the end I'm glad I did it though.
I ended up designing a custom filtration system that uses the Prusa filters and blower so I'm hoping whatever smarts they've built into the Buddy Board for the enclosure I'll be able to use.

I’m mostly interested in the power supply for the air filter. I made a giant one (7lb of carbon) for my Voron and I’d like to do something similar for the XL
While I wait I’ll be re-printing all the parts in ASA. So far that’s working out well for the Nextruder on the Voron

The enclosure is announced today on the blog: https://blog.prusa3d.com/we-are-expanding-our-enclosure-family_97833/
When I ordered the lead time was 1-3 days, now it is 4-5 weeks. 😅
