using XL tool changer board for different tools than a extruder.
Hi!
I´m wondering if anybody attempted to use the tool changer board for other applications than an extruder. Of course, you will be writing your own GCode but other than that, does the printer need the dwarf board to except the tool changer board? Does anybody have some experience or advice for me?
Greetings,
Tobias

I'd also be interested in more information about that

was coming here to see what documentation exists as well... I would love to get an SDK or "Dev Kit" or even just paperwork on custom tool integrations... I've seen some folks just fake it till they make it but shared docs on the topic would help the whole community.

Well, I was thinkering a little bit with that idea what I found out until now:
- dwarf board is needed, because the XL needs the connection to the tool board, also to start a "print" the XL checks the connection to the thermistor and shuts down when its not connected
- More important: you can trigger the z homing without the nozzle. I jused the mounting/ threated holes around the nozzle insert to mount a ultrasonic wire laying device and used the tip of it to home. The construction looks a little bit shit but it works, also the z-homing just needs the Toolboard and the Loadcell connected.
Maybe this foto helps to understand the functionality of the loadcell:
