Slanted Build Plate.... But CNC!
Hey all!
This doesn't seem to be as popular a forum as the MK3, but I figured I could share here as well.
I took the CNC'd build plate files from Prusa's Github page, and modified them to add ramps to each side! Now the resin just drips off as the plate rises.
I'm lucky enough to have access to a CNC shop so I had this made and anodized.
I've attached the Inventor file if anyone else wants to take a swing at making one! Its worked very very well so far.

That's nice! I've considered a cover to epoxy to the top that would have the same effect. I worry about cleaning something PLA/PETG or the potential interaction of cured resin getting bathed in liquid resin.
I assume you have tested it and the resin level sensor still works as expected? Would you be interested in helping out the CNC impaired among us and if so, any thoughts on cost?

@gnat Yeah I thought about making a 3d printed shield to the top, but I worried it would just get resin-logged
I haven't tested the resin sensor extensively, however if my understanding is correct it should be unaffected. The only thing that you would have to worry about is overflow. If you fill resin up to 100% and use this platform, you might risk spilling resin when you start printing (since the platform now takes up significantly more volume)
Unfortunately I didn't machine this myself, I called in a favor or two with a guy I know. However I did have him shop out a quote for me. Place I know could do it for about $175/each for a lot of 5, or $140/each for a lot of 10. I suspect other places may be similar. I can provide the STP file I sent as well if thats helpful

Ouch! For those prices I'll deal with resin pooling until I finally cave and build a CNC 😆

hahaha yeah thats totally fair. If I were making 1000 like Prusa does it would come way way down.
If anyone from Prusa is reading and you guys want to use this, DM me! I can put it back on GitHub under GPL like the original files

Thanks for uploading that - I was thinking about the same thing and will give it a shot with my Tormach CNC mill. It will also make a good sample to learn how to DIY anodize.

Did Prusa "Adopt" this ?
or just copy the idea ?
Mine came through in Summer 2022 with a build plate that looks a LOT like this.
