Thumping sound when tilting vat returns to level position

Hello, approximately 5 successful layers into a new print the tilting vat makes a thump/bang noise when it returns to the level position. This noise eventually goes away after the next 20-30ish layers finish. The arm that supports the build plate also jumps up/down violently when the tilting vat returns to the level position. The print failed twice. This is only my 2nd print. The first print (using the Prusa Tough Orange resin) of the miniature Josef Prusa test print turned out flawless - the best print I've ever seen. Can someone help me resolve this issue?

Best Answer by WidgetCeramics:

So it turns out, disabling the vat resin level sensor caused the thumping issue. Re-enabling the vat resin level sensor fixed the issue - no more thumping or hammering. Prusa, can you please fix this problem in the next firmware release?

Yes

Hi Joan, I made sure to use the Original Prusa SL1S Speed system preset, not the SL1 presets.

I think you are WAY over cooking your first layers.  I haven't seen a resin yet that requires more than 25-28 seconds on initial exposure time- even SirayaTech Blu only needs 28 seconds.  When you cook it that long, it is going to cure MUCH thicker than it should and stick hard, creating that thump when it peels.  I am not sure if you changed something in print settings when disabling the resin sensor, but I suspect that was more coincidental than anything.

De do do do de da da da... Is all I want to say to you...
