Prusament Resin with third-party printers (specifically Formlabs Form3)
Hello everyone,
My local makerspace has two Formlabs Form3 printers. I'm getting into resin printing for some technical parts I design and wanted to use the Prusament Resin, because of the prohibitive price point of Formlabs resin and because I want to support Prusa's work on this.
Recently, Formlabs published an update allowing the use of third party resins in their machine. However the configuration is not in terms of time of exposure, but in mJ/cm² (which makes more sense from a physical perspective and from the way their machine works with a laser source).
However, I can't find enough technical data to try a conversion from the time given by Prusa in their technical datasheets to something similar to mJ/cm². I tried "finding" the power of the UV light source, the material thickness and exposure time to find the energy quantity per surface needed but I find numbers quite high compared to the default settings (like an order of magnitude difference, which I find is quite a lot).
So, I'm turning to the community to try and find out if anyone uses Prusament Resin with Formlabs printers, and what settings do you use?
Bonus question, does anyone know where I can find more technical information about Prusament Resin (I understand that not all can be given since there could be industrial secrets).
Cheers everyone,
Happy printing.
