The start of my SL1 journey: caring for the FEP film
Hi there. I've just finished assembly of my SL1 and am trying to get my first prints to adhere. Small objects do adhere, large ones (e.g. the calibration one straight from the printer) don't, the first layer is left on the FEP film.
My first port of call is the FEP film itself: how should I care for it? I have been washing with tap water and washing-up liquid, using kitchen towel to wipe with, but already my FEP film, after just two prints, looks as attached, which I reckon is not good. We are in a hard water area: should I use distilled water? My perfectly normal [Waitrose recycled] kitchen towel seems to be scratching the surface of the film: what do other people use? All advice welcomed.

Hi,
From my point it doesn't matter that mutch.
Currently i just:
1: Clean build platform with Iso 99% (this improves the adhesion)
2: Poor out old resin (if you are going to change resin)
3: Wipe up resin with paper
4: Use some window cleaner or normal soap
5: Dry by using paper
6: Add resin (make sure to shake the bottle!)
Ps. i'm also a hard water area and my FEP foil looks the same but it prints just fine!
This would be my trouble shooting priority list:
1.Clean with IPA 90%+ (solved previous problems)
2.Reinitiate calibration
-
- ! safety precaution
- so we know if anything is wrong with the position of the build platform/VAT
3.print standard part from USB
-
-
- Validate if the Resin is still oke
- these standard parts have optimal slicing settings.
- If this print fails big chance that the Resin is contaminated with IPA
-
4. Clean VAT + Use new resin (solved previous problems)
-
- use standard slicing setting provided by prusa slicer
5.Renew the VAT FEP film.

[edit]: thinking about it, is it possible I ended up choosing the wrong layer of film during assembly, got one of the outer layers instead of the middle layer?
