Ordered MMU3 and mk3.5 upgrade, which one first?

I have a mk3s+ and have the mmu3 kit (for the mk3). I also ordered the mk3.5 upgrade kit.   I am waiting a couple of weeks to get the mmu3 cable that works with the mk3.5.

My question is, should I do the mmu3 install and then do the mk3.5 upgrade!

or should I do the mk3.5 upgrade first and then add on the mmu3?

is it easier to do one before the other?

I did the mk3.9 first then when it was printing I did the MMU3 upgrade.
I suspect the Mk3.5 route would be similar

Thanks  Joan.

I am moving forward with the 3.5 upgrade first.

Since my printer is about 6 years old I decided to do a complete overhaul of the bearings and belts.  Also my hotend wires needed to be replaced so replacing the hotend as well.  Right now I got parts all over the place!

I am waiting on the buddy cable for the MMU3 to mk3.5 anyways.   My shipping date is moved back a month but I have built the MMU3, just stopped at the section where you attach it to the printer.

Well if anyone else was wondering about this question, I completed the 3.5 upgrade and am glad I did the 3.5 upgrade before doing the MMU upgrade.

I ended up stripping down the mk3 and replacing all the belts and bearings.  I printed the new extruder mk3s+ files to replace my mk3 files.

Replaced the Y-Belt tensioner and x-belt tensioner to make that adjustment much easier.

Replaced the hotend.  Just about everything is replaced except for the motors and power supply.

I really like the way the mk3.5 is working.  The only thing that I miss from my mk4 is that automatic bed leveling.   I am really bad at dialing in the correct Z level height and swapping out print beds is going to be a pain (which is why I never did it on the mk3).   And nozzle swaps on the mk4 are so easy compared to the mk3.5.

Thats the main reason I decided to add the MMU to the MK3.5, since the materials that the MMU3 can print are limited, I decided that I wouldnt do nozzle swaps.
If I need to do printing that requires nozzle swaps I'll do that on the MK4.

Ready to add on the MMU3 but the buddy cable for MMU3 to mk3.5 keeps getting pushed back on shipping date.  Thought it would be here by now but is now showing april ship date.

RE:

JoanTabb You have the MMU3 for the Mk3.9?  I thought the MMU3 wasn't released yet for the Mk3.9/Mk4?
Have I overlooked something? I am waiting for my MMU3 upgrade for the Mk3.9 for almost a year now

I'm in the same situation.  I've had the MK3S+ for a few years now.  Ordered the MMU3 upgrade and built everything, but have not yet integrated it into the MK3S+ yet - since I've ordered the MK3.5 upgrade.  I read through the MK3.5 upgrade steps and it looks like it's mainly focused around the power supply, heat bed, and new LCD panel.  There are some steps to rework the extruder cable, but I think the jury is still out on whether that is necessary or not (seems like bending the end of the nylon filament at the end of the bundle is sufficient - provided it doesn't hinder the extruder movement).  Another reason I've decided to wait until the MK3.5 upgrade is delivered is I'll need to print some parts needed to support that upgrade, and I don't want to muck with the MMU3 upgrade (printhead) until I have those parts printed.  I read something about the firmware not being available yet to support MMU3 + MK3.5 combo - do you have any update?  I'm worried that I'll get both upgrades done but the firmware support might not be there.
