How do I restart it from the front panel?

Oh, crap, lesson learned. When a print is resumed (from OctoPi) it does not reset itself to the proper z.
I paused to clear a blob off the nozzle, raised the z to get the blob cleared. Restarted via OctoPi and the printer resumed in mid air.
Is there any way to pause to clear obstructions and resume?

ps I was messing with live-z after a long dormant period, a firmware update and some cleaning of the guide rods.
