RE:
My Triangle-Lab kit arrived this morning, so I assembled the first of the 80mm rewinders. I'm hugely impressed - the kit is very nice, the parts all fitted together perfectly, and the rewinder seems like it's going to be just the ticket.
I'm looking forward to trying these out with the MMU3, but I'll have to be patient for a little while longer until the 1m MMU cable that I ordered arrives.
RE: First thoughts on Filamentalist auto-rewinder
One last attempt to post the video!
RE: First thoughts on Filamentalist auto-rewinder
I've built up a 100mm rewinder as well, and now I'm wondering if there's any reason why I shouldn't have gone for 5 of those. I had assumed that the wider one would be somehow unsuitable for narrower spools, but in fact the gap between the rollers is the same in both versions so the only drawback I can see with the wider one is the extra shelf space that it will take up. But as luck would have it my reprack shelf has just the right width to take 5x100mm rewinders.
Have I missed something?
RE: First thoughts on Filamentalist auto-rewinder
Yeah I went 2x100mm & 3x80mm purely due to space concerns. In hindsight I'd have gone all 100mm but it's fine as is.
One thing I have done recently is introduce a gap in the PTFE of about 75mm to allows me to feed the filament into the MMU easier. It also acts as a sort of Y connector to position 5 that means I can easily introduce a feed from my dryer without swapping PTFE tubes about. Because the dryer cannot auto rewind I've used one of the original buffer cassette wheels behind an Ikea Skadis pegboard.

Those are both rather neat ideas. I'm considering a similar junction point, with a view to making it easier to swap the MMU between a MK4S and the CORE One, although I haven't really thought it through yet.
RE: First thoughts on Filamentalist auto-rewinder
I had enough left-over hardware from my first Trianglelabs order for small spools so I just ordered some longer dowels to make a couple of wider spool holders.
After six weeks with the Filamentalist rewinders I couldn't be happier. Not one issue. Given how much time and material I wasted on other rewinders, glad to find something that just works.

Yes, it's quite an ingenious design. I'd like to think that if I'd ever come across the concept of a one-way bearing I might have been able to conceive of something similar, but I'm not convinced I would have!

yeah, filamentalist is the nuclear option, the last you try, the only you will use forever.
Since I switched to filamentalist all my printers I live happier.
