mmu3 tmc_util.cpp:1199 tmc connection error

good day, hoping for some troubleshooting ideas from you awesome folks.

woke up today to BSOD,

(preview is cropped weird, whole BSOD shows up if you click on it)

build: mk4s with mmu3 in prusa enclosure
not sure what versions were on both at start of error (old ish... prusa3d_fw_MMU3_3_0_3_MK4_MK39_6_0_0 and MK4_MK4S_MK3.9_MK3.9S_firmware_6.2.2.bbf, last versions on home pc)

so i googled, figured i would try firmware update (MK4_MK4S_MK3.9_MK3.9S_firmware_6.2.2.bbf)
also took the mmu3 out, checked for loose connections, unplugged and reinstalled the MMU PD-board addon..

can't get the machine past BSOD to get to update mmu3 firmware. get the BSOD with the mmu3 connected and not connected.

think i should try factory reset on mk4s? (i am pretty sure that will at least get printer to boot so i can print without mmu3, yeah yeah it would be bad because filament sensor would be mia)

think i should check mmu3 board voltages etc? (if so any idea where documentation on that would be. i'm fairly handy with a multimeter and such, have a benchtop power supply so i can power it up off the machine)

think i should order a new MMU PD-board addon and control board, and printer com cable?

thanks for help and ideas.

hmm, removed mmu3, flashed new firmware, same error. sigh, hope it's not a main board issue. guess i'll pull printer out and check all wire connections to main board.

sigh, nothing loose i can find, nothing obviously toasted, fuses all checked with multimeter to be sure they are still good.

nothing looks loose on loveboad / extruder. - visual inspection limited without taking the whole hot end apart

update, problem solved.
spent about an hour and a half troubleshooting with prusa support. (Ivan was really patient as i struggled to get my mk4s in and out of my enclosure to test all the different configurations to determine root cause)
buddy board dead.

womp womp, sad. but it's covered under warrantee. so i might be back up and printing in a week ish
