Feeding to FSensor on filament change failing

I've had my MMU3 for almost a year at this point and for some reason, after having to store the printer in another room for a month or so due to repair work in its usual room, now more often than not when it goes to do a filament swap it craps out.

It will unload the first filament fine, but when it loads the new filament to the extruder, something goes wrong. Not sure what exactly but the little while progress bar boxes along the bottom of the LCD turn to dashes somewhere between halfway and like 75%. (its not always at the same spot).

I end up having to disconnect the boden tube from the extruder and let it feed into the air for a few inches and then feeding it into the top of the extruder by hand (this sometimes even takes several tries).

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks.

Im sure one of the things a support person would tell you is to check the tip on the new filament is "pointed" prior to the change though I think part of the fail cycle of re-attempts is to cut it.

Perhaps the extruder motor gears are not tight enough and the filament slips when it hits a snag?  I remember having an issue like this when I got it but TBH can't recall how I fixed it?

Check your heatbreak for obstructions. I made a post last night about how well mine changes filaments while asking another question and sure enough last night it failed.  The heat break was full of material.  I had to pull it out and clean it then did a few cold pulls and its working again.

RE:

You should recalibrate the filament sensor.

He said the little white boxes don't progress all the way meaning its already detected it at the FINDA and trying to feed to the print head.

RE:

Yes you are right. The progress bar tells if the filament is detected all the time. Sometimes during the loading progress it is not detected any more. So your filament sensor detects the bulged tip but may be the shaped shaft after this no  more. A quarter or half turn of the calibration screw into the right direction should do the trick
