Can't print two single filament prints in a row, but can print mutli-filament prints
This is a weird one, and I'm not sure how to even begin explaining it or if this is even where I should post about it. I'll just tell you what I did today to troubleshoot it.
I created a multi-filament object in PrusaSlicer using filaments 1 and 5.
I cut the top off of filament 5 on a diagonal and started the mutli-filament print. I had several filament changes and had no problems. After the print, the end of the filament looked normal.
I then printed the same model as a single filament print using just filament 5. I did not cut the filament before the second print. It printed without problems, but when the print was done the filament had a little "hook" on the end of it.
I then tried to print the same single filament print using just filament 5 a second time. I did not change or cut the filament before this third print. The filament didn't get all the way to the nozzle and no filament came out, even though the print head was going through the motions of printing it.
That's the issue I have. Any single filament print that I do through the MMU prints fine but leaves a "hook" on the end of the filament. Then the next print won't extrude anything.
Does anyone have any experience with this? Does anyone know what I need to do to fix it?
My setup:
- MK3S+ that was an MK3 and then was an MK3S
- MMU3 that was an MMU2 and then an MMU2S
- My print head has this "chimney" extension
- I'm running OctoPi via the USB port on the MK3S+
- Third party 0.4mm brass nozzle that replaced a third party 0.4mm hardened steel nozzle when this started
