Parts Revision MMU3

Hi,

maybe somebody knows an answer to this. I already printed the mmu3 MK4 Parts some time ago ( i know, in hindsight, that was probably not very smart). In the blog articles for MMU3 there was a section related to design changes / part changes which had to be done for the MK4

Is there an easy way to find out what parts i have to reprint when MMU3 for MK4 is finally released? Are the characters and numbers on the part a revision number?

Best Regards

RE: Parts Revision MMU3

There are two sets of part numbers for most parts,

One set is for parts printed on the factory machines, and one set printed on customer machines...
the parts for the Mk4 MMU3 are still being developed.

so I would hold back for a while.

Ah ok thanks for letting me know.

So i printed the entirely wrong parts i guess. Thought the files on Printables were for MK4 too.

Well then i'll print the MK4 Parts upon release and salvage parts like buffer that are not Printer dependent.

Best Regards

Is there an update to the MMU3 for the MK4 part redesigns? The most recent prediction was that the upgrade would be available in this month.  I've got the cable, and the MM3 is just setting on a shelf.  Any news?

Latest update I have seen. It's from the shipping info page.

https://help.prusa3d.com/article/shipping-information_2297

Original Prusa MMU3

MMU3 for the MK4 / MMU2->MMU3 upgrade kits for MK4 info below:

Update 8th March: At the beginning of March, we completed the development of the production version of the MMU3 for the MK4, and we shipped the final units to external beta testers for the last round of testing. This round will end in mid-March, and we do not anticipate any significant findings or changes. We will begin shipping the first MMU3 units for the MK4 by the end of March. In the first half of April, we will also start shipping the MMU2->MMU3 upgrades for the MK4.

RE: Parts Revision MMU3

I rebuilt the MMU3 and changed some parts on the Nextruder,
then re adjusted the Planetary gearbox, and filament sensor as per the Firmware guide,
on the MMU3 I used the guide markers to adjust the Finda and Idler clam shell tension screws, Then set the printer up to print the first of the new test pieces and I am approx 12 hours into the print, with no interventions. so far.

I am still using the electronics board  and selector motor from the MMU2 One of the Extruder motors from My old MMU1 and I changed out the pulley motor for a new one, because I damaged the cable on the MMU1 motor I was using previously,

I can see changes on the MMU electronics cover, and the idler clamshell top cover there is a new power module cover for the MMU,
I can see a change on the Filament sensor idler lever, and the filament sensor tension screws. there may well be changes that I have not seen..

so far, no fiddling, no special adjustments no special spool rewinders,

I am using one new spool of Prusament, and four older spools of prusament
after the first three test prints I will start using non prusa filaments as well.

we have been asked to prioritise these first three prints to keep on schedule for the expected release date!

Thanks Joan,

I had read that modifications to the Nextruder were coming and your summary makes me feel hopeful that the part redesigns will be available soon.  I've had the MMU3 build and on the shelf for 5 months waiting for the cable (just got that) and the firmware update.

And thanks, Kibbler, I missed that update.

Firmware 3.0.3 for the MMU and 6.0.0-RC1 for the Mk4 have been on Github for a bit now.  Still no sign of the updated print files for the Nextruder though....

Same with me Lynn, I printed the MMU3 parts last year when parts files were first made available.

I'm hoping not too many MMU3 unit or buffer parts have changed to get to final versions.

Version numbers and info from Prusa should make it easy to identify which parts require reprint.

RE:

I've been checking Printables all day for the revised parts to be posted. All I know from the assembly instructions is that the idler arm on the Nextruder cannot be printed with PETG, and the main plate has been redesigned and cannot be FDM printed. There's a note that says the MMU parts will be revised, but it doesn't specify if it's one or all.

RE:

the Buffer parts are different...    the MMU4 requires a little more space for filament, so the Cassette front plate has been pulled a little forward of the old position... not sure if the buffer front plate is different.

RE: Parts Revision MMU3

Mmu3 works in mk3s, MK3 s+, MK3.5, MK3.9 and mk4.

There are different power and data wires for einsy controller and xbuddy controller.

Mmu3 will not work with basic MK3 or earlier printers

Am I missing something? Is there an upgrade kit for my MK4 nextruder to make it compatible with the MMU3? I upgraded the MMU2s to the MMU3 sometime ago. Now I would like to upgrade my MK4 to work with the MMU3. I see the instructions for the upgrade and the printed parts but is there an assembly kit for the non printable parts?

Yes, the assembly instructions stated that there will be revised printed parts released soon, and the release notes for the new firmware stated that the new non-printable parts will be available in the e-shop soon.

Yeah it's worth reading the RC firmware notes where it confirms what Jay said https://github.com/prusa3d/Prusa-Firmware-Buddy/releases/tag/v6.0.0-RC1

I don't think Prusa has their comms together entirely yet, but I'm hoping we'll get a blog post or more details next week.

RE:

in the mmu1 to mmu2 upgrade days, my mmu1 to mmu2 kit came after the preorders for mmu2 were supplied...

the same thing may happen here.

They say comming soon to the E shop.

So it would be ridiculous if you need to wait a half year or so.
