MMU3 single color insertion of magnets with a color change purge, ideally with wipe tower
On the MK3S+ single color printer I often insert magnets at a height during printing. I found that by adding these two lines
M600
G1 E0.4 ; prime after color change
I could pause the printer, insert the magnets, and then click resume and it would purge a few inches that I could quickly grab and ensure a smooth flow when resuming with no bits stuck onto the print. I have used this successfully for a while now.
With all my printers moving to MK4-MMU3 or MK3S+-MMU3 setups I am searching for something similar to this. I have to now delete these lines and use a pause command which doesn't work as well, as it does not let me purge and ask me if if the color is good like before. If I use the code above it ignores it since it thinks it is smarter than me and doesn't need to do a color change. I am open to either slicing the print as MK4-non MMU and using load to nozzle at the start to get the right spool, or using MK4-MMU and specifying the spool, but the problem isnt that but during the print as to how to replicate the purge. Ideally I would love to use a wipe tower with a single color magnet insertion/pause which ensure the right flow on resume but cant figure out how to do it. There just seem to be a lot of print options/settings/gcode commands and I cant figure out the best combination.
RE: MMU3 single color insertion of magnets with a color change purge, ideally with wipe tower
let me add that even with the pause command it retracts but doesnt go through the tip formation phase so the incoming filament often misses the hole or doesnt load well, although it does ask me if the color is correct- so my complaint is whether we can force it not to retract/reload after a pause and preserve a small purge, or implement a pause with a single color wipe tower (which ensure tip formation and therefore the retract is OK, but still not preferred.)
