Is It Time to Buy MMU3?

I have the MK4.  It has performed admirably.  I have the enclosure built but have not made the changes to the MK4 yet to have it function integrally with the enclosure.

Is the MMU3 debugged to the point that it's now time to buy it?  And install the MMU3 on the MK4?  Is the combination stable enough to integrate the MK4, MMU3 and the Enclosure into one unit?

I hope so...comments?  Thanks

RE: Is It Time to Buy MMU3?

Hi moell

I started with the MMU2, then upgraded to the MMU2S and then upgraded that to the MMU3, and also bought some more MMU3 upgrades for my MK4's and I have been printing relatively trouble free for months now.

If you're expecting a "white-goods" style reliability from the MMU3 then it's probably not for you. The MMU3 is not there yet but it's damned near perfect compared to the previous iterations. It works reliably 99 percent of the time for me.

If you are logically minded then you shouldn't encounter anything that you can't diagnose and fix relatively quickly, but if you're the type of person that's flustered trying to work out how to send an email then you may have a frustrating experience with the MMU3. A mechanical/electrical aptitude is not absolutely necessary but advantageous.

What surprised me the most with the latest MMU3 iteration is the perfect filament tip forming. I use a wide variety of filament brands, colors and types of filament.

Prusament is awesome filament but it's cost prohibitive for me because of the cost of the filament but mostly the shipping costs are obscenely expensive, otherwise I would purchase more than I do.

Good luck.
