Can I convince the MMU that all 5 filaments are PLA?

When I start a print, and the MK4 brings up the screen for me to remap colors, I see down the right side of the screen FIL1, PLA, FIL3, FIL4, FIL5. How did it come to know that filament 2 is indeed PLA, but it apparently doesn't report filament 1,3,4,and 5 as PLA? How do I convince there is PLA in all 5 slots?

I mainly ask because if I explicitly select filament 2 for a single color print, it seems to be willing to go ahead and start the print without bringing up the mapping screen and forcing me to walk to the print and press the button. Maybe if it knew all 5 were PLA it would start without the manual intervention for any single color?

Have you used "advanced preload" from the filament menu? You can change filament types there. Remember to confirm at the bottom instead of returning at the top of that menu.

Don't think I used advanced, the initial instructions I followed didn't point to the advanced version. I'll give it a try. I still wonder how it knows about filament 2 :-).

If you select the "Filament" button from the remap screen, it takes you to a screen that's more or less the same as the Advanced Preload. It also defaults to load the filaments specified in the G-code, if they're not matching your current setup. That is, if you load a G-code which uses PLA in slot 1 and 2, and any of those slots aren't currently marked as PLA, it will default to "change to PLA" for those slots. If you've never knowingly used Advanced Preload, I would guess that's what set your slot 2 to PLA.

I did run the advanced preload and tell it everything was PLA, and by golly, I can now start a single color print with "upload and print" after selecting any color in the slicer, and it doesn't make me push the $#@! button on the printer to get it to print. At last, I can stay in my chair instead of walking 10 feet :-).

But don't change the filename when you upload the file to the printer. It starts to ask for the filamenttype again.................
I don't know why, but this is a strange behaviour.

I am on firmware 6.01, and MMU 3.03
