RE: Cable MMU3 to MK4

Since I'm going to take the MMU3 apart for your first updated idler I'd like to fix other potential problems at the same time. Please post the latest part.

Thanks

RE: Cable MMU3 to MK4

Cable diagram is great, thank you.  The latest firmware which enables the MK3.5 also requires the MMU3 to have a newer firmware before it is allowed to work (firmware reported as not compatible) and forces me to disable it until the firmware is updated.  Can't find any precompiled betas or release versions yet so my MMU is offline and the buddy board actually powers it down.  At least it's talking as I wait for Prusa to release the required updates.  Love the speed increase for the MK3.5!!!

Strange - it worked on my printer with just the latest released firmware (MK4 and MMU3). The only thing I have to confirm is the compatibility mode if I slice with my MK3@MK4 settings (s. above).

RE: Cable MMU3 to MK4

I can confirm that my Mk4 and MMU3 with the latest firmware available on the Prusa Website works with the cable.  I can now run the MMU3 by accepting Compatability Mode when I slice with Mk3 settings.  When I had a Mk3+ with the MMU3 I kept getting random errors telling me the firmware was not compatible.  It didn't matter what I tried I could not get them to work together reliably.  In the end I replaced all the cabling to the MMU3 from the Mk3+ and that solved it.  Even a small resistance issue seems to cause issues so I'd start by checking the cable.

Did it need any interventions?

Hi, which FW versions do you use?

RE:

The MK3.5 uses exactly the same mother board as the MK4 but I assume it has a jumper somewhere to tell it that it is configured for the MK3.5. It comes with the MK4 firmware preinstalled but on first boot asks for you to plug in the included usb drive to upgrade the firmware to 5.2.0. Clearly they temporarily disabled it to prevent getting calls when something doesn’t work quit right. Timeline wise MK4 first in March followed by the tunings for the MK3.5 and “Official” firmware release; but I doubt it requires new firmware in the MMU3, it works fine with the same parts (accept MB) as a MK3s.

RE: Cable MMU3 to MK4

I just managed a totally remote print with OctoPrint.  No intervention at all.  It was only single filament but I've never played with OctoPrint before so I don't know if it even supports the MMU.  Sliced using the Mk3 modified profiles already posted here.

Basically the firmware works fine, all we need are for Prusa to publish the official printer profiles for the Mk4 with MMU3.  Why don't they do that now that they have finally announced the MMU3 will ship for the Mk4 in the near future.

RE: Cable MMU3 to MK4

Description says not compatible with MK4. But my self made cable is. Looks like this one will be also.

RE: Cable MMU3 to MK4

I don't see any reason why it shouldn't be compatible with MK4 (MK3.5 and MK4 have the same xBuddy board)... I believe, that the cable will be in the MMU3 upgrade kit (for MK3.5 and MK4). The price for the cable is pretty high, but on the other hand, I can't get those connectors much cheaper.

Always amazed how Users on this forum find the smallest changes / updates to the Prusa site, nice work !!

So yes that is the same cable, proof is here in the MMU3 assembly manual Step 25 Pulley Body Assembly . . . image attached showing the new cable for MK3.5, MK3.9 and MK4, so it is the same cable for all 3 variants.

RE: Cable MMU3 to MK4

Today the Cable arrived, but My MMU3 and the MK3.9 would not work. When the MMU is activatet, the Printer tells me that the MMU Firmware is wrong.

The MMU Uses the 3.0.2+878 Firmware and the Printer is on 5.1.3.
