Good deal! I remixed both the regular Prusa version and the Ultimulti version and it's nice and quiet. I'm guessing the 1mm space Prusa put in there was for ease of assembly? Either way - much quieter prints now. No rattle!

I printed and installed this today and can confirm that this modification of the idler significantly reduces the rattling noise. It is still there, but barely loud enough to bother me so much anymore. Great job and thank you very much!
If I had more time then I would have already tested and published my idea of a drop in fix made out of TPU rings. No need for disassembly, just put them between the idler and bearings. No need for that anymore I guess 😀
Give this a go? Remixed the original R4 version of the idler to add .5mm spacers to the design to secure the bearings in place.

This is a great design but unfortunately, there was only a very minor improvement for me with this new part.
I note that as with others, the rattle seems to be settling down the more I use the MMU3.
