MMU not responding
Hi everyone,
I've been using my MK4S and MMU3 for about a year now and it's been fairly okay.
Today my MMU gobbled up some filament again. I took some of it apart to clean it up.
Now my MMU doesn't really do anything. When I power everything on, I see the LEDS glow green (4th is orange), and then it changes to #1 being green.
But when I try to push the buttons on it to change the position, it doesn't work, it just stays there. I tried to load filament via the printer but again, nothing happens it just stays on buffering.
Are there any tools I can use to debug what is wrong? I'm trying to figure out what parts I should order to fix it.
Here's what I've tried/seen
* I've turned it off, left it off for 10+ minutes, and turned it back on. I have not tried completely unplugging it, I will do that tonight.
* Everything is plugged in, I've taken it apart again to examine it and it looks fine. I've tried taking things out and plugging them back in.
* When I was cleaning it originally, I pulled out the Selector Motor (#13 here https://help.prusa3d.com/article/mmu3-regular-maintenance_682693)
Maybe I pulled it too hard and yanked the wires? Is there a way to test?
* I did have the power on while doing some disassembly. Maybe that caused a part of the circuit to be damaged? Is there a way to check?
Let me know if I can add anything that will help.
Thank you,
RE: MMU not responding
Hey everyone,
Slight update here, I was able to get it working again. I'm still figuring out the final details, but I think what ended up happening was the SupaFINDA (#7 here https://help.prusa3d.com/article/mmu3-regular-maintenance_682693) was being pushed too far down so it was thinking there was filament in there and wouldn't move. When I take it out, the buttons move the Selector Motor again and it does the initial moving on boot.
The initial hint I got was sometimes something blocking a motor might cause the boot to fail or not complete. So I took the Selector Motor out along with the FINDA and it was able to move on its own by pushing the buttons.
Going through the MMU documentation now to make see how to set up FINDA correctly.
RE: MMU not responding
Hey everyone,
Last update, it looks to be working well. My mistake was having the Finda sensor be pushed all the way down. It needs to be up a bit so when the filament goes through, the ball goes up and then it detects the filament as there.
All good now.
