Top Mounted MMU Lack Enclosure

I wanted to use my lack enclosure and mount the MMU to the top to keep easy access to the buttons and LEDs. To do this i designed a plate that the MMU mounts to that also mounts to the enclosure. I also am using a dry box on the shelf of the enclosure with 5 filaments inside. To act as my take up I have a mounted fitting holder holding the ptfe tubes from the drybox. The Lines from the MMU pull to the holder and the relief is at this point as well.

My only problem is Prusa limits the maximum length of filament from the MMU to the hotend. This caused me to have to move my unit closer to the hotend. I think it would be best if Prusa increased this length and also made it so that if the button is held it will feed more quickly than if it is pushed.

Please let me know your thoughts and if anyone has suggestions for improvement i would love to hear it.

Nice! I bought a LACK table and decided not to use it. A few reasons:

I would have needed to hack my wiring to get the MMU2 up there (too high)

The table is too deep for my setup. I'm not looking for full enclosure, just a convenient place for my MMU2/filament holders

I hated cutting the LACK table! I moved it to the TV room instead

Instead I built a simpler (shallower) plywood table, but I'm watching the LACK table builds for pointers.

How did you deal with your wiring? When I put my printer in the cabinet, I cut the power/panic cables and used Molex connectors on them. I put a panel with matching Molex connectors on the bottom so I plug the in printer inside the enclosure and the power supply to the connector outside. Since the connectors are matching, I can take the printer out of the enclosure and plug the power supply back in. Was thinking of doing something similar with the MMU, but will have to extend the cables it looks like.

All I did right now was to add the extension i needed. I can always disconnect from the MMU to remove the cover. I just ran them out from the gap between the glass and the base. Not the most elegant but i can always make it nicer later on. Right now im trying to make it work.

Looks fabulous. I had thought about remaking my enclosure, but was having issues locating acrylic sheet. The dray box idea is a good one, I use to have one but had abandon it when I bought the MK3. Gives me a lot to think about.

Yes, I am interested in the pass thru and its width.

In the mean time, I fitted a longer PTFE tube and found that the standard firmware did not allow caibrating it properly. I updated the variable "eepromBowdenLenMaximum" (added 4000) in permanent_storage.cpp of the MMU firmware and after compiling / uploading it, calibration was OK. 😛

Will try and do build similar, still figuring out how to extend the cables while being able to plug/unplug them easily for removing the top table with MMU fixed to it. Eventually I want to combine it with (split) external power cable for powering a step down converter for a raspberry pi 3B+

Adam, looks great. Now that you have had this for a while, what would you do differently? I have not yet built my enclosure, and just ordered my mk3 today. Any recommendations?

Nice!. This is exactly what I'd like to do. I've seen that Prusa now has the "secret menu" documented that allows you to adjust the bowden length calibration. Would that allow you to utilize a longer tube or is it only for minor adjustments?
