Re: MK3+MMU2.0 Colorchange by Layer

I'm trying to figure out how best to use Colourprint with the MMU2 as well.

Using Slic3rPE 1.42.0 beta 1 I can use the inbuilt Colourprint slider tool (in single mode) to define a colour change. At the layer colour change point, the printer pulls the filament out and pauses, but wants me to put a different coloured filament into the same MMU2 feeder slot. The selector left / right buttons refuse to allow me to manually select another feed channel and there's no option to allow this on the MK3S screen. 👿

Any ideas if there's some G-Code that would allow the MMU2 selector to allow a different channel to be selected manually at the change over point?

I'm also looking for a way to do this. I've added a layer color change in MMU SingeLayer mode. The printer pauses correctly and unloads the first filament. Then I simply tried to move the filament selector to the second filament and resumed the print, but then the selector just went back to the first filament. The printer should just stay at the filament I manually selected. Is there any way to do this in a simple way or is there already a feature request for this?

RE: MK3+MMU2.0 Colorchange by Layer

Another thread got me to look at the MMU firmware and I found a bunch of (currently?) undocumented gcode commands that should help with this: https://forum.prusa3d.com/forum/original-prusa-i3-mmu2s-mmu2-general-discussion-announcements-and-releases/custom-g-code-for-cutting-filament/#post-146580

Probably needs some playing with (maybe just looking for a tool change in a normal multi-tool print) but it looks like a combination of T, L, and U commands might be the ones to fiddle with.

I have been trying to accomplish this same task using the new PrusaSlicer 2.0.0  for the past 3 days and have not found a solution. I reacts the same as SlicerPE 142.0. But I guess we should expect that since PrusaSlicer was built on SlicerPE. PrusaSlicer 2.0.0 allows a color break to be inserted which then it is possible to manually select a different extruder, but upon clicking  the selector, will always go back to the original selected extruder. Since I am not a G-Code programmer, I will need someone to post a solution. Thanks in advance for your help.

Came across the same problem.

It seems that there is only one reliable solution so far: to use old "OriginalPrusa i3 MK3S" printer profile in PrusaSlicer (not MMU), unmount PTFE tube from the extruder and load/unload filaments manually.

Dear Prusa's team! Please correct the printer's behaviour with MMU2s and Color change in the recent firmware update!

Yup same issue.  I used Prusa Slicer to mark a Colour Change and a specific Layer Height and it did the unload just fine.  I then manually selected on the MMU2s the next filament and loaded it (using the buttons on the MMU2s) but when the print commenced it when back to the first filament.  The only way I can work out how to do it is to pull the original filament out, and insert the next one in the same PTFE Tube.  This works but is not ideal.

Kind of ridiculous that a printer with 5 filaments can't let us print them in layers.

Like really crazy that this isn't easy to do.

Should be able to pick Z heights and switch nozzle to "X" at that point, even if it does a wipe is fine.

In PrusaSlicer 2.0 double clicking the object doesn't seem to work.
Am I missing something?

Servus , if you choose your printer and your mmu and the SINGLE version, then the + (plus) sign is visible for color/filament change.  slicer version 2.1.1.

better then nothing, altought I thought I can get rid of this filemant change managment if I have  the mmu2s . this action I've to do with my other ender 3 pro printer too.

ok, lets wait until the beep sounds and lets change the filament - old school style.

PS: would be great if screenshots could be pasted here directly.

besten Dank / kind regards

PrusaSlicer 2.2 will support automatic color change by layer.
