MMU2s idler moving to wrong input
I just finished building my MMU2s and upgrading to the MK3s. I have flashed both firmware to the latest available. I am trying to load the filament for the first time. For some reason the idler is spinning to the wrong position. The LED's on the MMU2s and the selector move to the correction selection, but the idler isn't lining up the bearings to that selection. It does this using the buttons on the MMU2s and from the MK3s LCD.
I have tried doing a firmware reset on the MMU2s and I have checked that my idler is not cracked. Does anyone have any suggestions?
RE: MMU2s idler moving to wrong input
I had the exact same issue and for me it turned out the two top idler screws (the ones with springs) were overtensioned, and the idler was skipping steps. As soon as I loosened them the problem went away.
RE: MMU2s idler moving to wrong input
so i had the same issue and couldnt figure out why.
the support told me to check my IR sensor and calibrate it again to make sure it always triggers as expected.
I thought what would this have to do with the idler position but for some reason it worked.
Since going the very simple calibration for the IR i have printed for 20h with a total of 400 color changes without one single interaction with the printer.
this was one dual color print and one 5 color print with all 5 colors on every single layer.
RE: MMU2s idler moving to wrong input
I am having this issue upon completing assembly. It did load once. But now I can not get it to load a single filament at the correct location. Any other suggestions as I have tried both the above.
RE: MMU2s idler moving to wrong input
I finally had some time to look at this again and found my issue. My issue was that the black and blue wires on the Extruder Motor on the MMU2s were reversed. So it was spinning the idler in the wrong direction.
RE: MMU2s idler moving to wrong input
I too found that out yesterday. Sent a photo to support and asked. Yup it’s a motor wired incorrect. Waiting on a new one. They said it was rare, must not be so rare!!
RE: MMU2s idler moving to wrong input
Mine is doing this sometimes. Somewhere when printing a random filament change fails and when I try to reload the filament manually, the idler just engages for example filament 3 instead of 2 and it just pushed the filanent out of the front of the MMU.
At that point there is no way of fixing it. Only a MMU reset helps, afterwards the print continues without problems.
Absolute weir issue and happened at lest 5 times in the last few days. Honestly, this looks like some obscure bug in the MMU firmware.
RE: MMU2s idler moving to wrong input
Same thing is happening to me.... except I'm using a Soluble filament for supports, so I end up with a layer of soluble material in the middle of the print. Ruins a 2-day print and a ton of money, consistently.
