RE: MMU2s Filament Loading Issue

Hi,

In my case described above, prusa support finally sent me a replacement MMU controller board.

After installing it, I ran a 7h PLA multicolor print which worked perfectly. Not a single error.

I noticed that the new board is rev 0.4, whether the old one and the current files on github are rev 0.3. I don't know what's different and if if plays a role in filament loading issues.

RE: MMU2s Filament Loading Issue

Same but it is getting better with temperature adjustment. I am using NEAT PLA at 190/60 after first layer. Works very well most of the time. I have my printer in a wooden box with no ambient temperature control and I suspect the ambient temp plus hot end temp affect filament stringing during retraction. I suspect that the ambient temp of the encloser actually raises the filament temp just enough to create stringing on retraction. ( the longer the print the more ambient temp increase = more filament stringing ).

I also question the accuracy of the hot end temperature. I am going to decrease the hot end temp, in the gcode, below filament specs and see what effect that has.

Great device regardless!

@paul-l10

I was having a big problem with filament end stringing and MMU2S failure. I found on disassembling that I had inserted the small PTFE tubes ( between the MMU gears and the selector ) with the bevel toward the selector. I reversed this and the filament moved much more smoothly.

Next I changed my retraction setting from 100 to 120, my cooling moves to 2 and my hot end temp to 190. I have been running this print of a spiral vase for 10 hours, with perfect tips and no interventions.

It is possible 🙂
