MK3 upgrade with MMU2S

Hey guys,

I have a MK3 printer and ordered a MMU2 unit.
Now i have received the MMU2S kit from PRUSA.

I have installed all the parts from MMU2S kit.

But what do i need to do with the firmware?
Do i need to update it to MK3s firmware? And also update the MMU2S with the laters firmware?

Or do i need to update it to MK3 firmware and MMU2S firmware?

No   firmware MK3S is for MK3S  but you have MK3 (without the sSs !) so firmware should be MK3. And select the good firmware for MMU2S.

Bizarre  you receive MMU2S and not for MK3S ?  You don't want the MK3sSs ?

Depends on your sensor. Laser sensor? Mk3 firmware. IR (magnets/lever/"chimney") sensor? Mk3S.

Part of the MMU2S upgrade is to upgrade your MK3 to the MK3S. Did you rebuild your extruder as part of the process? If so and there is now a tower on top of the extruder then you now have a MK3S and need it's firmware.

What about the magnets? Where should i use those? Cant find them in the manual.

Yes your base printer is now a MK3S.

The magnets and ball (marked for the extruder) are not used with the MMU configuration (tower). They would be needed if you removed the tower and went to a plain MK3S setup (you'll need to print the replacement for the orange part in step 10 of the MK3 extruder upgrade guide). See step 7 here (note that steps 6 (here is the magnet), 21, 41, and 42 are different as well).
