Deinstall of the MMU2S from MK3S+

Has anyone deinstalled the MMU2s from a MK3S+. Are there any problems in doing so?

I tried this and unplugged the connectors between the Einsy and the MMU2S at the MMU2S side and this doesn't work for me.

After disconnection  I sliced a sample object with Prusa-Slicher (Orignal setting w/o MMU2S) and tried to print the object. The printer wants me to change the filament on a ramdom basis. If I print the same file once again - the filament change take place on a different Z coordinate.

So has anyone any experience in the deinstallation of the MMU2s - any problems with the MMK3S+ afterwards?

Your help and experience is welcome - Robert

If it's calling for a filament change, it's probably because the object was sliced for multi material and not simply due to the MMU2S being present.

I installed a switch (the little switch enclosure is in the prints section) to disable the MMU2S and I normally run it turned off.  I got tired of unplugging and replugging when I switched from multi-material mode to plain vanilla single-color MK3S.  The switch is DPST which breaks both the red and the black power leads.  It's been used this way for close to a year now and performs fine as a regular MK3S and a MK3S/MMU2S when the switch is turned on.

There are two tapped holed in the MK3S frame that almost look like they were intended for such a thing.

I have it set to the single printer. I don't even have the MMU2 profile installed anymore.

@jsw : This was my first idea - thus I re-sliced all objects the in PrusaSlicer using the plain MK3S mode w/o MMU2S and this did not solve the problem.

IMHO the reason for the problem was some kind of interference in the (long) open signal cable.

I finally unplugged both cables in the Einsy and this solved my problem and as a result I received my good working MK3S back. 😀
