MMU2 to MMU2S Upgrade Assembly - Am I missing someing?
I'm upgrading from a 2.5 with MMU2 to a 2.5S with MMU2S
I just finished the upgrade with the kit I got in the mail. I built the new 2.5S extruder and the buffer.
However, as far as I could tell, no changes were made to the MMU itself other than firmware.
Is that right or am I missing something?

yup as far as I know, nothing is changed on the mmu2
I have a Prusa,therefore I research.
RE: MMU2 to MMU2S Upgrade Assembly - Am I missing someing?
Yeah. No changes to the MMU itself, just the extruder chimney and buffer.

Great, thanks for the info!
RE: MMU2 to MMU2S Upgrade Assembly - Am I missing someing?
I have an MMU2 kit that I ordered about a year ago and am just now getting around to installing (printer is MK3). Can someone explain the differences between MMU2 and 2S? Should I/can I upgrade?
What about the MK3? Can it be upgraded to MK3S?

you should be able to upgrade for free.
really only matters if you use clear filament often. I'm still not sure if I needed to upgrade to S. roughly, its the same.
100% made it a pain in the ass todo somethings. but made pulling out the hot end abit easier.. still torn, if it was worth it.

I would do the Butterworth indirect filament and extruder mod rather than the 3S. My 3 has been so much less reliable since doing the S upgrade. I've had to turn the filament sensor off as it keeps falsing no filament which is exactly what it's not supposed to do (I think it is the issue with the door arm some have mentioned). The bottom has also warped from a whopping 40 hours of printing.
So far I've yet to get a successful multitool print out of the MMU. There is no change to the MMU itself, just the addition of the buffer.
Since you already have the MMU, I'd suggest printing some of the auto rewind spools that are available and then giving the MMU a try before considering the S upgrades.
Me, I'm printing the Butterworth right now and will be "downgrading" to the MK3 again and will give that a shot.
