MMU sensitivity seetings
Hi,
I am struggling to start the MMU2. Often, it goes to the place stop and shows error. Another time when idler is moving just a bit it shows error again. There is a way to change sensitivity or any advice how I can improve it?
Thanks
Kamil

Hey Kamil, you could be a little more specific about which LEDs are blinking, and how fast - nevertheless I just assume they are all blinking. In this case you might have a weak connection or a broken cable between your Einsy and the MMU board, I‘d recommend to thoroughly check that first or you have the „MMU voltage drop“ problem which has to ways to solve it. One involves soldering the other way is just use a phone charger or similar power source to additionally supply power to the MMU via the USB port of the MMU. There is a thread in the forum describing this error and the solution. I can’t find it right now….

Hi Kamil,
I recommend starting with this video:
It sounds like you have some kind of issue with the MMU assembly...that video breaks down the MMU hardware operation which might help you identify where the problem is.

@rick-houlihan thanks for the link. I have already seen it. Nothing helps.
more details?
If you want more than a general advice (like the video) it might help to specifically describe your problem(s)...

Well, the problems are not repeatable at all, this is the most problem. Let's say sometimes when I start printer and select the filament slot I want ( let's say #2). The idler turns as usual, the selector moves from left to right goes to slot #2 and suddenly shows error. Sometimes, selector does not move at all, directly shows error, sometimes move few minimeters and shows error. After couples of reset it works normally. Another day I have problem with idler, presents similar behaviour. I checked if everything moves smoothly, I think I have the newest upgrades. It looks like for me like the motors are set too sensitive or does not have enough power or whatever. Am I more specific now? Thanks for any advice...
RE: ..getting there…
Hi Kamil, yes that’s a bit more specific. However I have some questions:
How does the idler „show error“? (LED? Display? Stops without indication?)
Which mode does the MMU (not the printer) operate in? (Stealth/Normal?)
What is your filament setup prior to the MMU? (Original Prusa incl. spoolholder and buffer?)
What firmware is your MMU running?

Some additional details
Hi Robin,
1 ) It stops and the leds are blinking, the same with selector.
2) The printer and MMU are in normal operate mode.
3) I have Original Prusa incl. spoolholder and buffer.
4) I have the latest firmware 3.10 with 1.06 firmware for mmu.
Thanks
😉

hmmm...nice catch
Hi Robin, maybe it will be the best advice so far. Indeed all the leds are blinking as you said. I will check connection then. It makes a sense. I will check as well „MMU voltage drop“ more thoroughly...Thanks for your time so far.
found it...

...got it
Hmmm....It would be funny story if it is the case...Thanks for this Robin. I will check it tomorrow. Anyway it does not seems that Prusa team doing something about it, if it is true...well , well...
...bad and good things
Hi Robin,
I think you point it correctly. I added external USB power supply and it works without any error again...at least I tried couples of time. However, I do not want to keep this power supply the whole time. It means I have to modify the board...It should be Prusa team job after all? Am I right?
