MMU 2.0 upgrade prices and details now on shop
These appeared on the shop page this morning:
New MMU 2.0 kit is USD $299, requires MK2.5 or MK3 printer (no support for MK2S).
https://shop.prusa3d.com/en/printer-upgrades/185-multi-material-upgrade-kit-from-mk2-to-mk25mk3.html
MMU original to MMU 2.0 upgrade is $249, but there will be a $100 voucher for owners of the MMU original, and also any preorders for the MK3 MMU upgrade prior to the MMU 2.0 announcement will get it for the original preorder price. (I am in this category.)
Under "Key Features" it says "2x filament sensor" but it isn't clear if it means 1 additional sensor for a total of 2, or 2 additional sensors for a total of 3.
Re: MMU 2.0 upgrade prices and details now on shop
I was checking it out and it's only available for "Wish List", but any update is a step closer.
Re: MMU 2.0 upgrade prices and details now on shop
Why do we need the MK2.5 ? It's for the filament sensor? (and the fan for the new extruder assembly, but a fan is easy to source)
I hope i can just purchase the filament sensor alone and use my mk2 with the mmu->mmu2 upgrade.

That and the firmware.... they would need yet another firmware version for people with ONLY laser sensors.... i don't think they're going to do that considering how swamped they already are.... the mk2.5 firmware won't work on mk2 without the bondtech (steps per mm change) and heat bed because the probe points are changed too....
2.5 isn't that pricey considering.... plus you get an extra bed entirely you can use to build another machine or sell to someone as a replacement part.

You can buy the filament sensor https://shop.prusa3d.com/en/mk3-printer-parts/212-mk3-filament-sensor.html but you gonna need to modify the firmware.

Ow I know it's on the product page... But that isn't saying anything 😉
In my couple years experience with prusa I've never known that "shipping starts at" to be accurate.

Re: MMU 2.0 upgrade prices and details now on shop
I seem to have missed something. Wasn't the original price for the MMU 1.0 $249 ? prusa himself said this would be cheaper but its going for $299?
Even the info page for it has this...
IMPORTANT: If you already ordered Multi Material upgrade for Original Prusa i3 MK3, your order is still placed and you don't need to do anything. Additionally, we will send you a $50 discount voucher to our e-shop to compensate the price drop. Check your e-mail in upcoming days.
Re: MMU 2.0 upgrade prices and details now on shop
I believe the previous design was listed at 349?
Re: MMU 2.0 upgrade prices and details now on shop
That math would make sense but I thought I saw it at $249. Can't even find any references to the original price anywhere. I'm sure you're right or I'd not be the only one asking...
Re: MMU 2.0 upgrade prices and details now on shop
Pre-order was $249 for the 1st MMU. That is what I paid.
Re: MMU 2.0 upgrade prices and details now on shop
The store page for the Mk3 kit still lists the old MMU upgrade down at the bottom.

The Price in the beginning was $249 but changed to $299 later
Re: MMU 2.0 upgrade prices and details now on shop
Yep, and the Mk3 version originally was going to be another $50 on top of that to account for the extra bondtech gears and filament sensors until they redesigned it.
Re: MMU 2.0 upgrade prices and details now on shop
Why do we need the 2.5 upgrade for the mmu2 to work? I don't need the full 2.5 upgrade.

Hi Ruben,
As the MMUv2 is more or less a filament changer which feeds the filament to the direct driven extruder and not to the hotend it needs the autoload function of the MK2.5/3. To get the autoload function you gonna need at least the filament sensor and bondtech gears and a modified MK2.5 firmware.
So kind of MK2.3/4 version
MK2.1 with Noctua fan
MK2.2 Noctua + PINDAv2
MK2.3 Noctua + filament sensor + PINDAv2
MK2.4 Noctua + filament sensor + PINDAv2 + bondtech gears
I also think my MK2 with the MK42 bed works great and will build at least MK2.2, maybe the MK2.4
You may be able to get it working with the MK2 but then you need to modify the firmware bit more than just disable/modify in the MK2.5 MMU firmware (which isn't yet published)

Wasn't there a difference between the power supply for the PRUSA 2.0 being differnt than the one for the 2.5 and 3.0? I think it was output of 12v vs 24v?

MK2.5 is 12V so you can use most parts of your MK2/s. MK3 is 24V for motors, heater and bed BUT 5V for fans.
I expect that the MMUv2 controller board will work (as miniRAMbo and Einsy) from 12V to 24-35V so it can be used with the existing PSUs 12V MK2/s and MK2.5 and 24V MK3.
