MK3S MMU2S with no chimney mod
Hello,
I was wondering if anyone have tried an mk3s mmu with no chimney mod. Reason is I frequently remove the ptfe tube fitting on the extruder and the chimney is obstructing and have been quite an inconvenience. The mk3s has the filament sensor that seems to be doing the same as what chimney is doing. I mean I know that the chimney amplifies the ir sensor detection four folds, but the mk3s filament sensor has been working pretty reliable for me for years. So I was wondering if anyone out there feels the same way and perhaps pursue a similar path.
Thanks
RE: MK3S MMU2S with no chimney mod
The original mk3s triggers on the filament entering the extruder. With the mmu chimney the sensor triggers when the filament is between the bondtech gears. The mmu needs to know that to stop feeding from the mmu and handing it over to the extruder.
I use this mod at the moment as the chimney got in the way of the ptfe tube on some tall prints. (because of the way I mounted the mmu)

It removes the chimney but still triggers on the gears.
