MK3S+ and MMU2S

I just pre-ordered the upgrade from MK3S to MK3S+ mainly because of the new SUPER-PINDA. I already have the v.4 IR sensor I upgraded some months ago... But I’m not sure about the rest of the benefits and if there will be some different upgrade parts for MMU2S owners. Any news about this?

As far as I know, on the MK3S+ the Pinda V2 was replaced by the SPinda and the mountings for the linear bearings and y-axis rods were renewed. For a running MK3S the upgrade should not change or improve much. The MMU2S should not be affected by the upgrades. The MMU2 has not been changed for a longer time. The latest firmware is V1.0.6.

The MK3S+ upgrade will also have new extruder plastic parts, with straighter filament path (for flex) and better air flow around cooling ribs. The new parts has not been published on GitHub yet.

I have the MMU2S unit and to my knowledge there is no change here.

Have a look at my models on Printables.com 😉

Quite interesting. If I am not mistaken the ordering page of the MMU2S states that you need the upgrade in order to install the MMU. So, could mean everything or nothing, but at least it's worth having a look when finally released on GitHub.

@huskyte

What they mean is that a MK3 has to be upgraded for MMU2 and the upgrade MK3->Mk3S is no longer available and replaced with the MK3/MK3S -> MK3S+ upgrade. That is how I understand the upgrade path for MK3.

RE: MK3S+ and MMU2S

FYI,

I have a MK3S with the MMU2S. I printed the new MK3S+ extruder parts (Prusa provided g-code with Prusa PETG). However there are 2 problems:

1) The solid adapter-printer.stl (printed in orange in the assembly manual), for the life of me I can't find to print.

2) I can't calibrate the IR sensor. The adjustment slots do not have enough movement to move it into the calibrated position. I believe that the problem is that the "door" sits a little ajar compared to the MK3S.

So temporarily, I've disabled the MMU2S and the filament sensor until I can find the adapter (or model on myself).

And if anyone has the solution for this, please let me know!!!

Thanks!

RE: MK3S+ and MMU2S

I'm upgrading my Mk3S to a Mk3S+ extruder path.    Thinking about getting an MMU2S to play with and also trying to figure out then how to upgrade from a Mk3S+ to a Mk3S+ MMU2S....  There currently isn't a documented path in the downloadable STLs...   Are there any issues with the new Mk3S+ extruder parts and the specific MMU parts listed in the STLs?

  • extruder-idler-mmu2s.stl
  • fs-cover-mmu2s.stl
  • ir-sensor-cover-mmu2s.stl
  • ir-sensor-holder-mmu2s.stl

What combination of Mk3s+ and MMU2S extruder parts will work?

RE: MK3S+ and MMU2S

In the announcement of MK3S+ they said that the current MMU2S could work with both MK3S and MK3S+.

There is to my knowledge no new parts to MMU2S.

RE: MK3S+ and MMU2S

I finally got the mmu2s to work. I had to reprint all the mmu2s components for the extruder. I used the latest models posed on GitHub.  The original door from the mmu2s kit would not close down far enough for the IR sensor.
