Re: Filament sensor burned up!!!!!

Users can plug it in any which way ... and all except one is wrong and can fry the sensor.

Can it? Do we have pinout of that connector and a schematic of the sensor somewhere?

the way prusa is handing things since the MK3 release is making me less attracted to them all the time and if somebody else builds a better mouse trap then i want it at this point.

No kidding. A reasonable product that's just good support away from being what it claims to be... But they are QUITE adamant about punishing non-believers instead of making the product what it says on the box. The community is working harder than anyone at prusa, except their video and relations team.

I wouldn't recommend a Prusa to anybody based on my experiences with them. They send me parts and cannot identify what they sent, what I ordered... Lots of well meaning, but at the end of the day I want a functional printer.

BTW - I've got two broken sensors like the first one shown - both came from the MMU jamming filament down a "let's hope this works" filament path.

well the good news you don't need the sensor to use the MMU2 and i've had mine shutoff from the second day i got my MMU2 together. I only turned it back on when i put the MMU2 together because i didn't know if it was needed or not. my MK3 from pretty much 1st week i got it had the sensor disabled because it was giving me constant issues with print failures. things got better with later firmware releases but i didn't care i left it turned off.

prusa really changed after the MK2S release. now they just seem to ignore us. they always claimed they did not read the forums.

i was waiting over the last couple of months to see if things had changed i stayed off the forums and i started a print farm of just MK2S machines because i didn't even want to deal with the 2.5 issues. i decided to order a MMU2 at the beginning of summer and just got it the end of October.

but back to the MK3 had/have problems with mine the community started up the 602 issue page on github trying to again help where prusa was not.

now after a couple of problem with chat support they finally did come through and help and i complained quite a bit about not being able to purchase stepper motors. suddenly about 2 weeks after i was done and got my machine fixed prusa opened up the store to more purchasable parts.

it is like they try in one area and completely fail in another and it was much better 2 years ago.

Re: Filament sensor burned up!!!!!

I'm quite interested in ZB's "let's use the sensor" firmware, and am trying to get one of the intermediary-based sensors working. It's a better way to do things, I feel.

Plus the sensor was nice to have when NOT using the MMU. I'd like to have it working, I guess. 🙂

RE: Filament sensor burned up!!!!!

Did Prusa ever comment on this? I tried to get the original faulty filament sensor replaced for over a year, the "one issue at a time" thing support like to do meant with 3/4 weeks waiting for a reply they started saying my warranty expired. Today my filament sensor which has been disabled for years just melted my extruder body. looks like something has broken off the sensor board and got into the nozzle.

Support were very rude about it and told me to buy a new one? this is a part thats been faulty since release, reported multiple times and Prusa refuse to replace it. then I find this overheating issue has been reported years ago and Prusa didnt bother to do a PSA to anyone still using the old sensor.
