Second filament not loading
I am new to MMU2S and I am trying to do a two-color print. Both filaments are PLA.
The first filament loads fine and prints exactly as expected. The second filament loads most of the way to the extruder, but then retracts partially and does not actually print anything. The printer is not giving any errors so it tries to print but ends up printing nothing causing the print to error out.
I have checked the IR sensor and it seems to be working as expected.
I have tried reversing the order of the filaments being used and I run into the same problem.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
RE: Second filament not loading
Which positions are you using. See my post about filament not loading to nozzle.
RE: Second filament not loading
Sorry, I did not realize you replied. It ended up in my Spam folder. I was using one and two. I have since gotten them all to load down to the extruder, but they won't actually print. they end up retracting back up before anything extrudes.
RE: Second filament not loading
you almost certainly have a finda/ir sensor problem so the printer/mmu thinks it's running out of filament
RE: Second filament not loading
After you start a print and before it actually loads filament you can scroll to support, scroll to sensor status and watch the sensors as the filament loads and unloads. I had two main problems. the filament buffer and the print file. The buffer was adding a ton of resistance to loading filament. I took the buffer out and feed filament directly in MMU with no PTFE tubes at all. It helped a lot with my load problems. secondly, I'm pretty sure the print I was trying was a bad file. I used PRUSA slicer to create it but it just had problems. I tried a different print file and it worked great.

@lippman-mark
Interesting about the tubes and buffer. I have ordered some new tubing which is slightly thicker on the inside, and transparent which should hopefully help for debugging. The sensors are all triggering properly.
It's not related to the file I am printing because the problem happens even when doing a Z axis calibration.
