R versions, compatibility, function of the MMU2s system

Hey All,

I bought a mks3+ and the mmu2s a couple months ago

I made a few things with the mk3, read a bit on the mmu, and printed up some parts that seemed good to have.

last week the hotend started globbing, and it seemed time to complete the MMU2S assembly, by doing the extruder mods on the printer

I have all the R4 bits in blue petg,  and a couple R6 (cover and motor plate) did them in clear petg

also have of course the extruder bits that came in the MMu2S kit.

So, I have alot of modded parts, and a manual for the OEM parts.

with the carrige all disassembled, I'm sitting here wondering how to combine all these bits into the latest stable version. that has the best IR setup, fits the OEM hotend parts.

so that said

should I start with the D1, R4, or R6 body ?

I have 3 subtley different chimneys to choose from as well.

I could use some opinions

My understanding is the higher letter, and the higher number is the most recent versions.  I have found some incompatibilities with some I have printed.  The only way to find out is to print and try the part.

Yeah, I guess since I can't print anything new, I'll get it at least assembled and following commands with the bits I have. should be enough if not ideal.

I boke the mk3 down since I wanted to get a fresh HE in there. the original started blobbing and failing prints. looks saveable out on the bench.

The R4 bits use a double tension screw idler it seems, dunno why, but its a tight fit, seems sketch. I'm on this an we'll see

oem bearing cover

R4 body

R6 extruder mount

R6 motor mount

mmu2s kit idler mount

single foot chimney

I'd already run off the MMU2s parts before the HE acted up. Have the Fromel MMU and the tall square buffer.

so, time to get hot with the 2.5mm ball driver

we are back up and running

a mount bracket for the mmu is first up, and made totally in the slicer

I discovered the negative volume button,  so exciting
