MMU2 extrudes too much on wipe tower

So this has happened numerous times to me. When the extruder cleans out filament on wipe tower the next filament comes in and over-extrudes leaving a big blob. How can I fix this? I keep having wayyyy too many issues with my MMU2S. I wonder if I re-flash it if it will do any difference.

I forgot to mention that both colors are Matterhacker PLA, and fairly new.

This has been reported before in cases where the IR filament sensor isn't adjusted correctly and/or the incorrect firmware is on the device (Mk3 vs 3S)

this case is clearly not the firmware as the blob is way too big, this is simply the OR sensor not being aligned correctly, it doesnt trigger until it randomly does after the blob is extruded.

the problem was a faulty IR sensor. got it replaced and it works well now.
