Filament sensor not working? other issues

I noticed that on mine the Filament sensor doesnt work with MMU. Is this occuring with anyone else? If the MMU doesnt load correctly the print will still continue and then it leaves me with a much bigger headache down the line when i check on the print. I checked to see on some other occasions where it happened and there was nothing where the sensor is and the printer was printing away(<this only happened once maybe i caught it before the MMU screen) or it had an MMU issue screen.

Is this supposed to happen? I would think they would talk to each other
Load filament IF filament sensor senses THEN it is loaded IF nothing is sensed after set amount of time THEN pull filament back into loading area IF FINDA doesnt deactivate after set amount of time THEN MMU issue screen.

Also i had occasions where the part failed while inside the extruder during a change and the MMU issue screen was up. i had to do all kinds of snipping and removing of the bowden tube so it could load the filament which still ended in failure cause i dont know how to load into extruder.

0.) ISSUE OCCURED (extruder is cold)
1.) Removed bowden from extruder and snipped filament
2.) Let MMU eject filament from 1 then switched and loaded 3 all the way into the tube by itself it wanted to resume print with tube off
3.) Pause the print when i had the chance
4.)After seeing if the filament will load into the printer the old way (filament sensor found it and loaded) it didnt work. I had to then unload 3 so i can put bowden tube back into extruder
5.) Resume print.... it is now resuming print without loading into extruder hence my issue with filament sensor. pretty much no way for me to save it so i had to cancel the 16 hour print.

I believe this could have been resolved if Filament sensor was working and maybe a Load into extruder option if it is hot? i double checked to see the sensor is connected and i even reflashed both printer and MMU. Also noticed my extruder stepper motor was much warmer compared to the others. normal?

The optical filament sensor is disabled with the MMU2.

I agree that the whole system would be more reliable if the optical sensor worked in conjunction with the sensor in the MMU, but the optical sensor also has reliability problems. Maybe they'll work on re-enabling it now that they think most of the kinks are worked out with the optical sensor.

I gave up on filament sensor seeing that lots of people was having issues. They even disabled it for the mean time in new firmware. But i'm still a little worried of the Extruder stepper motor getting hot. Its unusual

I managed to a good print. I had to do an order with ABS i ended up using prusa's red ABS-T and i havent had a single good print since. Lots of layer skipping. Seems like its under extruding. i'm assuming its a clog inside from the ABS. All of my pulls have a large ball with a string point tip and extruder is clicking every once in awhile. Once i clear this up i'm going to try again and see if i can succeed again. That first print came out great though. Some errors due to switching in between different brands of filaments which it kinda doesnt like (Hatchbox PLA, Prusa PLA). i ordered some Prusament see how it acts with that.

Time to start taking this thing apart again. 😆
