Difficulty getting filament to load properly
So I recently finished setting up my Multi Material 2.0 and I thought everything was assembled properly but when it came time to load the filament, I ran into an issue,
Sometimes I would push the filament through just fine, the pulleys would take it, and it would be loaded. Other times, however, the filament would come out where it shouldn't, completely bypassing the necessary hole
It's not very consistent either. Sometimes the filament will go into a tube fine, but later I'll try to push filament into the same tube and it has difficulties. When I would try to pull out the filament, I felt strong resistance and heard the pulleys so it clearly grabbed the filament, just failed to lead it into the correct receptacle.
Here's my setup of tubes and I made sure to give the appropriate amount of length as specified in the instructions
I just can't figure out how this could be happening and what I could do to stop this.
Re: Difficulty getting filament to load properly
1) make sure when you first load the filaments you have a nice 45 degree cut and straighten out the end of the filament so it is nice and straight for a couple of inches
2) second picture change all those spools to this version:

Re: Difficulty getting filament to load properly
I had the same issues when i first built mine...the suggestion change to the rolloers above will prob help all though I havent done it.
What i did was...
1. threw away those 3d printed filament guides
2. Trimmed all tubes for the filament to go through to maybe 5-6 inches.
Havent had issues since.
Re: Difficulty getting filament to load properly
When I look at your tensioning screw it seems to be very tight.
Mine is slightly less (0.5mm) then flush and when I tighten them too much I have unreliable filament load
Not sure if there is variability from MMU2 to MMU2
Re: Difficulty getting filament to load properly
I've had good luck with losing them up soo much they would fall out (while the printer was running), then give the screw a half a turn.
I have a Prusa,therefore I research.

nice catch i missed that. defiantly too much spring load on the hinge top to the selector body, back off like Markus wrote. they need to be flush with the top as a starting point.

Re: Difficulty getting filament to load properly
Thanks everyone! Turned out it was the tension on the screws!

Re: Difficulty getting filament to load properly
Glad it worked 😀
These tension screws are key. It usually works for me when I not scew them in too much. 8-10 turns not more
Less is better. Hope Prusa will find a more reliable solution for end users. Currently i would call it a bit too experimental
