Universal X-Carriage and Short Body (MK3S) Extruders Caution
If you are using an older version of my BNB Universal X-carriage, please change to current design if going to a short body extruder like the MK3S or BNBSX Short Ears MK3S extruders. The short body extruders are 5.5 mm shorter and therefore bring the x-axis 5.5 mm lower. On full body extruders, the hot end cables were already prone to damage by the print bed connector housing curing XYZ calibration. Lowering things another 5.5 mm puts the cables at extreme risk, unless the cables are perfectly routed.
New design of Universal X-carriage provides safer cable routing for short body extruders. Take if from someone whose thermistor cable was torn during XYZ calibration.

Proper routing keeps hot end wires above harmful contact with heat bed cable cover.

Interesting that you're seeing this problem. I noticed my thermistor wire cover was cut. I'm using all stock MK3S parts. I ended up replacing the heat bed cover 10mm bolt with an 8mm bolt so that it no longer protrudes from the plastic cover. Given that you have even less space you may consider making this change.

I don't actually have that bolt. To fit in a LACK enclosure my head bed cover is a 90 degree unit that has all the bolts pointed downward. However, the cover itself has a taller profile. Fortunately, the issue has been solved in the latest version of the BNB Universal X-carriage. It now has a pass through slot and guide fin. Those keep the hot end cables lifted up out of harm's way.
