Unexpected ergonomics

I was playing around with some filament and on a lark, decided to print this steam valve knob off Thingiverse. Popped it onto my Mk3 and I have been very surprised at just how usable it is. The larger knob makes spinning through menus more precise, and the ease of movement with a finger makes setting large values quick and easy. The only drawback is that it partially blocks the reset button, but that's a much a safety feature as a bug, IMO.

It also makes a nice extruder visualizer:

If you've been frustrated with the usability of the stock knob, definitely try another style. I'm going to re-print these at better quality eventually.

Nice one.
I'm a fan of this knob.

That's the one I had mounted previously! It's excellent as well. I was just surprised at how usable a larger knob is. I'd be curious to scale up this design.

I'm trying to be nice 😉

A long lifetime of getting into over-complicated technologies, but ... it is fun.

Re: Unexpected ergonomics

Alright - how do you guys stick the fans, knobs, and sundry gimmicks to the extruder shaft? My motor now has a heatsink so the option is off the table, but I'd still like to know.

With magnet glued to the gimmick.

Ha ... such an intelligent and elegant solution. No wonder I never thought of it.
