Requesting Help On Mk3 Extruder/Hotend Upgrade
Hello All,
I'm planning a Bear upgrade on my Mk3. I also want to take advantage of the latest technologies on the extruder and hotend. I want a Mk3S extruder update with a Bondtech gear drive motor and a Mosquito hotend on a Bear carriage. I have seen so many great designs out there that I thought I could take a piece from this and an adapter from that and cobble something together. But now I have become so blurry eyed by all of different approaches out there that I don't have the confidence with anything that I could come up on my own. If this particular combo has already been discussed, I most likely missed it, please forgive. So could someone help point me to a single design or collection of designs that would give me what I'm striving for? I greatly appreciate any all help, Thx.
Phil D.

You probably want to look into the BNBSX extruder if you want mostly stock.

(I am in the process of building a Skelestruder instead to also gain the advantages of reduced weight and gearing over stock)

Theres the Bunny and Bear stuff on thingiverse. https://www.thingiverse.com/BunnyScience/designs
Its a geared extruder system with various options. I see they do a Mosquito adapter for the BNBSX Short Ears and the do a universal X Carriage for the bear. Looking at it they might do everything you want but with a non Bondtech geared drive, although still geared. Worth taking a look.

There is an active thread in General about the BNBSX + Mosquito combo: https://forum.prusa3d.com/forum/original-prusa-i3-mk3s-mk3-general-discussion-announcements-and-releases/mk3s-mosquito-integration/

Thx for the quick responses. I have seen the Bunny Science, Skelestruder designs and am still considering them. I'm also following the BNBSX and Mosquito discussion to see if that is also a solution for me. I tend towards the Bondtech drive because it seems a little more compact, maybe I'm wrong, still thinking on all of the options.
BTW gnat, your emoji is just how I feel.
Thanks again,

RE: Requesting Help On Mk3 Extruder/Hotend Upgrade
If you are building a Bear framed printer, may I suggest going ahead and using the Bunny's "short ears" version of the Bear x-axis. That will give you the adjustability of the Bear x-axis and leave you free to upgrade to a BNBSX later. The universal x-carriage will also handle quite a few different extruders reducing the amount of reprinting should you decide to switch extruders at a later date.
Another factor in deciding on an extruder is how it supports the filament sensor. Check if it matches your usage plan with/without MMU2S. Does it cleanly handle the MK3S sensor board?
I very much enjoy building and repairing my own parts. Hence, my Bondtech upgrade extruder kit sit on my desk while a fleet of BNBSX extruders of various generations surround it.
RE: Requesting Help On Mk3 Extruder/Hotend Upgrade
Hello again,
many thx to everyone's comments. It's made me look harder at the BNBSX and its Mosquito option. There is much in the description for me to sort out, but looks like it'll do what I want. I do like the fact that the motor is situated in a way to reduce its moment on the x axis. Another question regarding the Mosquito: I haven't heard much about clogged nozzles with it. Is too new for any reports or is its design superior for clogging to occur?
thx again, this may not be the last time you hear from me.......
